Register for the WebinarSupervisor Field Added to Personnel Records (New Feature)
What - A native Primary Supervisor field has been added to personnel records, enabling agencies to formally document direct reporting relationships within their personnel data. Supervisors can also be used as a filter criterion in Ad Hoc Reporting.
Why - Agencies need a structured way to capture real reporting relationships in their personnel records to support accurate oversight and reporting workflows.
How
- This feature introduces a new field and permission option within the Personnel module
- Navigate to a Personnel Record and locate the new Primary Supervisor field
- Assign an active Personnel record as the designated supervisor for that individual
- To enable supervisors to view their direct reports, assign the My Reports permission to the appropriate role
- Once enabled, supervisors will see their direct reports automatically surfaced in the Personnel List
- The Primary Supervisor field is available as a filter in Ad Hoc Reporting
- Note: Visibility is scoped to direct reports only (one level); multi-level or cascading visibility is not included at this time
- Note: Assigning a supervisor does not grant any additional permissions — all existing role-based permissions remain unchanged
Use Case
- A battalion chief is assigned as the Primary Supervisor for their crew members, allowing them to quickly view only their direct reports in the Personnel List.
- A records administrator uses the Primary Supervisor field as a filter in Ad Hoc Reporting to generate a roster grouped by supervisor.
- An agency needs to document formal reporting relationships in personnel records without altering existing user roles or permissions.
