Register for the WebinarAdd Inspections Without Addresses (New Enhancement)
- What - Added the ability to create and manage inspections without requiring a physical address. Three new inspection subtypes are available: Standalone, Pre-Development, and Special Event. Each subtype includes location-specific fields, allowing inspections to be associated with a business or vendor contact instead of an address. This enhancement also introduces managed Unit Name and Event Name dropdowns, a Business Contact tab, and a business signature section.
- Why - This enhancement provides greater flexibility when inspecting mobile assets, pre-development locations, special events, and other scenarios where a traditional physical address may not exist. It eliminates the need to enter placeholder addresses while maintaining accurate inspection records, contact information, and billing associations.
- How
Open the Schedule Inspection window.
Select an Inspection Type: Standalone, Pre-Development, or Special Event.
Complete the location-specific fields associated with the selected inspection type.
Select either a Business or Vendor Contact to associate with the inspection. One selection is required when creating the inspection.
When selecting a vendor, choose the specific contact person.
For applicable inspection types, select a Unit Name or Event Name from the dropdown.
To add a new value, click the + icon, enter the name, and select Save. The new value will automatically be selected.
Duplicate names are not permitted within the corresponding list.
After creating the inspection, use the Business Contact tab to manage the associated business.
Select + Add to associate a business when none is selected.
Use Change to select a different business or Remove to remove the existing association.
Business and vendor associations can both exist on an inspection when added through their respective tabs.
Note: Addressless inspections cannot be requested through the portals in this release. These inspection types are also excluded from the Inspection Organizer.
Note: This functionality will remain disabled until the corresponding permit workflow updates are available.
- Use Case - An inspector needs to document a safety inspection for a temporary event that does not have a designated street address. Using the Special Event inspection type, they can select or create an Event Name, associate the inspection with the appropriate business or vendor contact, and complete the inspection without entering a placeholder address. This ensures the inspection is accurately documented and associated with the appropriate responsible party.
Multilingual Inspection Report Output with Configurable Language Support (New Enhancement)
- What – Inspection reports can now be generated in English, French, or Spanish, with support for bilingual output through configurable Language Sets and language selection within the Form Builder. Fixed report components, including table titles, headers, signature blocks, and ad hoc violation labels, are automatically localized based on the selected language. Language Sets also allow localized response values to be configured for each supported language.
- Why – This enhancement improves the accessibility and clarity of inspection documentation for multilingual communities. By supporting language preferences, agencies can provide more understandable reports to individuals and businesses while maintaining consistent documentation across inspection types.
- How –
Navigate to the Form Builder for the applicable inspection form.
Select up to two languages to enable bilingual inspection report output.
Assign Language Sets to configure localized response values for each selected language.
Designate a default form for each inspection type to automatically apply the preferred language configuration.
Note: Localization applies to fixed report components and configured response values. Custom field labels and free-text entries are not automatically translated.
Note: This feature must be enabled in your environment before it becomes available.
- Use Case – During a fire safety inspection at a Spanish-speaking business, an inspector can generate a report with Spanish labels and configured response values to improve communication with the business owner. In bilingual communities, inspection forms can be configured to support both English and French, making reports more accessible to all parties. Additionally, setting a default form for each inspection type allows inspectors to use predefined language configurations without additional setup in the field.
