- What - The Signature tab in Medications Setup has been redesigned to support signature configuration by medication event, substance type, and supply source. The updated setup is organized around seven events: Count, Usage, Receive, Return, Transfer, Remove, and Custody Exchange. For each applicable substance type, Kits and Med Supply can be configured independently with a validation method of Signature or PIN, profile signature auto-fill, and up to four required signatures. A share toggle is also available to merge Kit and Med Supply into one shared configuration when the same rules apply.
- Why - This update gives agencies greater flexibility to align medication signature requirements with their compliance workflows. Signature rules can now be differentiated by event, substance type, and supply source, supporting more precise requirements for controlled and non-controlled substances.
-
How
- Navigate to Medications Setup.
- Open the Signature tab.
- Select the applicable event: Count, Usage, Receive, Return, Transfer, Remove, or Custody Exchange.
- Configure the relevant substance type labels for the selected event.
- Set signature requirements independently for Kits and Med Supply, including the validation method, profile signature auto-fill, and up to four required signatures.
- Use the share toggle to combine Kit and Med Supply into a single shared configuration when the same signature rules should apply to both.
- Use Case - An agency can require different signature rules for controlled substance transfers than for non-controlled supply usage, while also applying separate requirements for Kits and Med Supply. This helps ensure each medication event enforces the correct signature workflow based on the substance type and supply source.
