What - Introduced Occupancy Icon Settings, allowing administrators to customize how occupancies are displayed throughout the Pre-Planning module based on operationally meaningful criteria. Administrators can configure up to three fill color rules and one badge rule using organization-defined criteria such as property use, building style, occupancy status, risk classification, and parent versus child occupancy relationships. A configurable badge can also highlight occupancies requiring additional operational attention, including target hazards, Pre-Plan Information Available, or incomplete pre-plans. The visualization framework uses an accessibility-approved color palette designed for readability on both standard and satellite maps while preserving the familiar green occupancy marker for locations that do not match configured rules. All visualization settings are centrally managed and applied consistently across the organization to ensure responders receive a unified operational view regardless of device or map type.
Why - This enhancement improves responder situational awareness by allowing occupancies to be visually differentiated based on operational priorities instead of displaying every occupancy with the same appearance. Constraining the number of configurable rules and using an accessibility-focused color palette helps maintain readability in dense map environments while reducing cognitive overload during emergency response. Organization-wide configuration also ensures responders interpret occupancy information consistently across all devices and operational workflows.
How
Navigate to Main Menu → Pre-Planning → Occupancy Icon Settings.
Enable Occupancy Visualization.
Select Add Fill Rule to configure up to three occupancy fill color rules.
Choose an approved fill color, operational meaning, and matching values for each rule.
Select Add Badge Rule to configure one operational attention indicator.
If Pre-Plan Not Completed is selected, choose the desired threshold or configure a custom date range.
Review both the Standard Map Preview and Satellite Map Preview to verify readability.
Save the configuration to apply visualization rules organization-wide.
Occupancies that do not match configured rules continue displaying the default green marker automatically.
Only Users with the associated Permission can modify occupancy visualization settings.
Use Case - An organization can configure warehouses to display in blue, high-risk occupancies in orange, and vacant buildings in violet while displaying a red badge for occupancies with incomplete pre-plans. Responders approaching an incident can immediately identify higher-priority occupancies and recognize locations requiring additional operational attention before arriving on scene, improving situational awareness without opening individual occupancy records.
