What - Business Portal users can now submit fire inspection requests for their associated business locations directly through the Business Portal. Requests are created as native fire inspections using the existing inspection workflow, with inspection types automatically filtered based on the selected service address and the responsible authority to help ensure only eligible requests can be submitted.
Why - This enhancement expands Business Portal capabilities by providing an online inspection request process, reducing manual intake, improving request accuracy, and ensuring inspection requests are routed using the appropriate jurisdiction and eligible inspection types.
How
Navigate to Business Portal > Inspections.
Select Request New Inspection.
Choose an eligible Service Address associated with your business.
Select an available Inspection Type.
Optionally enter Notes.
Select Submit Request.
Note: The Inspection Type field remains unavailable until a valid service address is selected.
Note: Only addresses and inspection types that are eligible for your organization and participating authority are displayed.
Note: The Inspections navigation is only available when Inspection Requests are enabled for your business and your user account has the required Business Portal permissions.
Use Case - A business user responsible for multiple locations can request a required fire inspection for a specific address without contacting staff directly. After selecting the location, only inspection types available for that address are presented, helping ensure the request is submitted correctly and enters the standard inspection scheduling process.
Business Portal Inspection Request Access Management
What - Business Portal now includes a dedicated Inspection Requests work type and Business Portal-specific inspection permissions. Organizations can enable or disable inspection request access for their business users, and access changes take effect immediately without requiring users to sign out and back in.
Why - This provides organizations with greater control over who can submit and manage inspection requests while keeping Business Portal permissions separate from internal agency permissions.
How
Business administrators can enable or disable the Inspection Requests work type within Business Account Settings.
Assign users the Inspection Manager - Full Access Business Portal role to grant inspection request access.
Removing the Inspection Requests work type immediately removes access to the feature.
Note: Users who lose access immediately lose navigation visibility and can no longer access inspection request pages or related functionality.
Use Case - When a business changes personnel or no longer needs inspection request capabilities, an administrator can remove the work type or user permissions, immediately preventing further inspection request activity while maintaining appropriate access controls.
