Activities Logging Grid Added to Investigations
- What - A new Activities Logging menu item has been added to investigations. The grid allows investigators to record, view, edit, and manage activity logs throughout the lifespan of an investigation.
- Why - Investigations may involve critical actions outside standard protocol, such as obtaining warrants, collecting CCTV footage, or coordinating with outside agencies. Capturing these activities in a structured, chronological log strengthens the investigation record and supports accurate reporting and court testimony.
- How
- Open an investigation and select Activities Logging from the investigation menu.
- Click Add to open the activity entry window.
- Complete the available fields, including Activity Type, Status (Open or Closed), Date/Time, Personnel, notification details, and any Notes, Results, Findings, or Deviations from Protocol.
- Click Save. The entry will appear in the grid in chronological order.
- Use the Edit or Delete actions to update or remove an existing entry.
- Note: Consent and warrant documentation may be managed separately through Form Builder in a future release.
- Use Case - An investigator records a supplemental meeting with a forensics team within the investigation, ensuring the interaction is timestamped and attributed to the appropriate personnel. A supervisor can review the Activities Logging grid to confirm that actions outside standard protocol have been documented, while an investigator can reference the chronological record when providing an accurate account of actions taken during court proceedings.
