Purpose Statement
The First Due Learning Management System (LMS) is a self-paced client training program available through the First Due platform. It allows users to self-enroll in courses designed to help them learn how to use First Due software.
First Due LMS supports new-user onboarding, refresher training, and continued learning as users take on new responsibilities or begin working with additional First Due features.
Organizations that subscribe to Basic or Advanced Training can also assign First Due LMS courses alongside their existing courses.
Background Information
First Due LMS provides on-demand training focused on First Due software, features, and workflows. Courses are organized by experience level so users can select training that aligns with their role, responsibilities, and familiarity with the platform.
The program is being made available to all First Due clients, including organizations that do not subscribe to the First Due Training module. The available enrollment and assignment options depend on whether the organization has purchased Basic or Advanced Training.
Important: First Due LMS is First Due’s software education program. It is separate from third-party LMS partners and content providers, such as Fire Engineering or Air Methods. Those services provide separate training content and are not part of the First Due LMS course program.
Training Module Access and Course Availability
Organizations with Basic or Advanced Training
Organizations that have purchased Basic or Advanced Training will see First Due LMS courses in their system alongside their existing courses. Users can self-enroll in LMS courses or assign them as they would other existing courses. It is recommended that you make a Shared View to isolate the First Due LMS Courses.
Adding First Due LMS courses does not otherwise change the organization’s account or existing Training module functionality.
Course templates
Each First Due LMS course creates its own template when imported.
Note: Basic and Advanced Training refer to Training module subscription options. These are separate from the Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced course levels described below.
Organizations without a Training module subscription
Organizations that have not purchased the Training module will see Training appear in their module stack when First Due LMS becomes available in their system.
For these organizations, course access is limited to self-enrollment. Users can self-enroll in First Due LMS courses but cannot assign courses.
Course Levels
First Due LMS courses are grouped into three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. These levels are intended to help users identify the courses most appropriate for their role and experience. This article shows you First Due LMS Course Offerings grouped by module.
Beginner
Beginner courses are designed for basic end users who are new to First Due or who need training on everyday platform functions.
These courses focus on foundational knowledge, common workflows, and the tasks users are most likely to complete as part of their regular responsibilities.
Beginner courses may be appropriate for:
- New First Due users
- Field personnel
- Basic end users
- Personnel who need a refresher on common workflows
- Users who work within specific modules but do not manage module configuration
Intermediate
Intermediate courses are designed for supervisors, company officers, and other users who oversee personnel, review information, or manage operational workflows within First Due.
These courses build on basic platform knowledge and may include more detailed processes, review responsibilities, and role-specific functions.
Intermediate courses may be appropriate for:
- Supervisors
- Company officers
- Shift leaders
- Training officers
- Personnel responsible for reviewing or approving information
- Users who support day-to-day First Due operations
Advanced
Advanced courses are designed for administrators and users responsible for module setup, system configuration, permissions, or organizational workflows.
These courses focus on the tools and settings used to manage how First Due functions within an organization.
Advanced courses may be appropriate for:
- First Due administrators
- Module administrators
- Department leadership
- Personnel responsible for module setup
- Users who manage roles and permissions
- Personnel responsible for configuring organizational workflows
Course levels are intended as guidance. Users may enroll in courses from different levels based on their responsibilities, prior experience, and training needs.
Required Permissions
Access to First Due LMS will initially be enabled for Administrator roles when the program becomes available to an organization.
Administrators can enable LMS access for additional roles based on their organization’s training needs. This allows departments to provide access to field users, supervisors, officers, training personnel, and other staff members as appropriate.
Access to First Due LMS does not require a subscription to the First Due Training module. However, organizations without a Training module subscription are limited to self-enrollment; enabling LMS access for a role does not provide course assignment functionality.
Organizations with Basic or Advanced Training can continue to use their existing course enrollment and assignment capabilities.

Best Practices

- For organizations without a Training module subscription, direct users to self-enroll in recommended LMS courses.
- Encourage new users to begin with Beginner courses before moving into more detailed content.
- Use Intermediate courses to support supervisors and officers who review work or manage operational processes.
- Recommend Advanced courses for users responsible for administration, permissions, configuration, or module setup.
- Encourage users to revisit courses when they take on new responsibilities or begin using a new First Due module.
- Pair First Due LMS training with your organization’s policies, procedures, and role-specific expectations.
- Clearly distinguish First Due LMS courses from training offered through third-party LMS partners.
- Remember that course levels are recommendations rather than restrictions. Users can take courses from multiple levels when relevant to their responsibilities.
- Assign courses based on the First Due LMS Course Update Cycle.
