Purpose Statement
The Hydrant Archive feature allows users to remove hydrants from active operational views (such as maps and lists) while preserving all associated historical data. This ensures departments can maintain accurate records without cluttering active datasets with decommissioned or no-longer-used hydrants.
Background Information
Archiving hydrants is essential for maintaining clean and accurate operational data while preserving compliance-related history. Fire departments frequently encounter hydrants that are permanently removed, replaced, or no longer in service.
Instead of deleting these hydrants—which permanently removes all associated inspection, flow test, and service data—the archive feature provides a safer alternative. Archived hydrants:
- Are removed from active maps and standard workflows
- Retain all historical records
- Can be restored (unarchived) if needed
This functionality supports audits, reporting, and long-term data retention requirements.
Required Permissions
To utilize the Hydrant Archive feature, users must have the following permission enabled:
- Hydrants → Manage Archive
This permission allows users to:
- Archive hydrants
- Unarchive hydrants
- Access archived hydrant records
Permissions can be configured under:
Admin → Permissions → Hydrants
