Daily Operations: Daily View

Purpose Statement

The Daily View within Events & Activities provides personnel with a centralized snapshot of all scheduled operational activities for a selected date. This feature ensures enhanced situational awareness, operational readiness, and streamlined planning across all divisions of the department.

Background Information

The Daily View offers a consolidated interface where users can review, filter, and manage daily activities such as training, inspections, maintenance tasks, events, and additional operational workflows.
Common uses include:

  • Reviewing daily assignments before shift changes

  • Identifying scheduled events across modules

  • Printing the daily operational plan for crews

  • Creating or modifying events directly from the daily interface

Prerequisites:

  • Users must have access to Events & Activities

  • Modules displayed within the Daily View must be enabled for the department

  • Templates should be configured if users wish to add events via “Add From Template"

Required Permissions

To access and manage the Daily View, users must have permissions associated with:

  • Events & Activities: View — to access Daily Operations and view scheduled items

  • Events & Activities: Create/Edit — to add or modify events

  • Module-Specific Permissions — to open events within related modules (Training, Inspections, Maintenance, etc.)

Best Practices

  • Use Templates for Efficiency: Build event templates for commonly repeated activities to streamline daily planning.

  • Filter Strategically: Avoid selecting all modules at once if you only need certain ones—this improves clarity and reduces screen clutter.

  • Print at Shift Start: Many departments print at the beginning of each shift for briefing purposes.

  • Verify Permissions: If events don’t appear, the user may lack permission to view that module.

  • Refresh Daily View: After making updates in a module (Training, Inspections, etc.), refresh to ensure the view reflects the most current data.
