Daily Operations: Calendar

Daily Operations: Calendar

Purpose Statement

The Calendar view within the Events & Activities module provides a centralized, visual representation of all scheduled events, daily log items, trainings, and other operational activities. It allows users to quickly identify upcoming responsibilities, manage signups, and create new events directly from the calendar interface. This overview helps users understand navigation, filtering options, and core functionality.

Background Information

The Events & Activities Calendar serves as a planning and operational tool for fire and EMS personnel. By consolidating information from multiple modules—including Events, Daily Operations, and other optional data sources—the calendar supports agency-wide coordination and reduces the need for manual scheduling workflows.

Common use cases include:

  • Viewing upcoming trainings, meetings, and events

  • Identifying signup-eligible activities

  • Navigating by month or date range

  • Creating new events directly from the calendar

  • Exporting calendars to external scheduling tools

  • Filtering activities to focus on relevant assignments

Prerequisites:

  • Users must have access to the Events & Activities module

  • Agencies may limit visibility based on event type, assignment, or role

Required Permissions

To view and interact with the Calendar, users typically need:

  • Events & Activities → View Events

  • Events & Activities → View Daily Operations

  • Events & Activities → Create Events (required for adding new events)

  • Events & Activities → Edit Events (if modifying existing events)

  • Events & Activities → Signup for Events (if the agency uses event signup eligibility)

Permission configurations may vary based on departmental policy and user roles.
