Learn About New Features in First Due
Each month, we’ll cover the latest First Due releases in a dedicated webinar. Join us to review new features, product updates, and enhancements designed to help your agency get the most out of First Due.
Register for the WebinarOptimized List View for Events & Activities (Feature Enhancement)
What - The Events & Activities module has been updated with list view optimizations, improving how users interact with and navigate event and activity records. These changes refine the overall layout and usability of the list view experience.
Why - User behavior data indicated a significant number of users were actively filtering records by NERIS and ePCR, signaling a need for a more efficient and streamlined list view to support those workflows.
-
How
- Navigate to the Events & Activities module
- Access the List View to experience the updated layout and interface improvements
- Note: Specific interaction steps will vary based on your agency's configuration and the data displayed in your list view
-
Use Case
- A user reviewing incident records can more quickly locate and filter relevant NERIS or ePCR entries within the updated list view.
- A supervisor monitoring activity logs benefits from a cleaner, more organized view when scanning large volumes of records.
- A data entry user navigating between events finds the optimized layout reduces the time needed to identify and open the correct record.
Streamlined Event Creation and Management in Events+ Activities (Feature Enhancement)
What - The Events+ Activities module has been updated to streamline the native event creation and management workflow, simplifying how users create and manage events from start to finish.
Why - The previous workflow presented opportunities to reduce friction in event creation and management, making the process more efficient and intuitive for users in the field.
-
Use Case
- A user needs to quickly create a new event and can do so with fewer steps and a more guided interface.
- A user managing multiple activities benefits from a cleaner, more organized event list view.
- A user updating or editing an existing event experiences a more consistent and efficient management workflow.
Events & Activities Calendar Scalability and Default Behavior Improvements (Feature Enhancement)
- What - The Events & Activities operational calendar has been updated with smarter default load behavior, dense-day rendering limits, and persistent user preferences to improve performance and usability at scale. Calendar views now load a bounded 7-day operational horizon by default and compress high-volume days to reduce visual clutter.
- Why - As operational calendars grow in volume and complexity, unmanaged rendering of large event sets can create performance strain and make it harder for users to quickly assess daily operations. These changes establish scalable defaults and intentional progressive disclosure to keep the calendar fast and actionable.
-
How
- When opening the Events & Activities calendar, the system defaults to a 7-day view rather than a full month view.
- Days with more than 4 visible items display a "+N more" summary indicator instead of rendering all items at once.
- Select "+N more" on any dense day to expand and view the remaining operational items.
- Users can save named filter configurations as operational views and restore them in future sessions.
- The system automatically restores your last used view, filters, and horizon the next time you return to the calendar.
- Month view remains available and follows the same density-compression behavior, displaying summarized counts for high-volume days.
- Cross-module aggregation behavior is preserved and continues to function as expected.
- Use Case - A dispatcher opening the calendar each morning sees their preferred 7-day view automatically restored, saving time on manual configuration. A supervisor reviewing a high-volume training day can select "+N more" to progressively reveal all scheduled activities without overwhelming the initial view. A coordinator can also save a filtered operational view for a specific event type and quickly restore it during planning sessions without rebuilding filters each time.
Modernized Event Template Creation Experience (Feature Enhancement)
What - The Add Event Template flow has been updated to a new user interface, accessible from both the List View and the Calendar page. The updated experience includes a right-hand slide-out panel for filters while retaining all previously available fields.
Why - This update improves the overall usability and consistency of the event template creation process, providing a more modern and intuitive experience for users managing events and activities.
How
This update applies when creating a new event template from either the List View or the Calendar page
- Navigate to either the List View or the Calendar page within Events & Activities
- Click the Add Event Template button
- The template creation flow will open in the new UI
- Use the right-hand slide-out panel to access and apply filters
- Complete all available fields as needed — all previously available fields remain accessible
Use Case
- A training coordinator creating a new event template from the Calendar page benefits from a cleaner, more streamlined interface without losing access to any existing fields.
- A user managing recurring training events from the List View can quickly access filters through the slide-out panel without navigating away from their current view.
- An administrator setting up event templates finds the updated flow more intuitive, reducing the time needed to configure and save new templates.
