Dispatch Unit Subtype Color Coding for Command Board and Responder Views
- What - Added configurable color coding for Dispatch Unit Subtypes, allowing administrators to assign colors to apparatus subtypes that are displayed consistently throughout operational workflows. Configured colors appear as colored pill chips on the Command Board and within Responder incident views, as well as color swatches in the Dispatch Unit table. This provides users with a quick visual method for distinguishing different unit types during active incidents.
- Why - Quickly identifying unit types during fast-moving incidents is important for effective resource coordination and situational awareness. Color-coded unit subtypes provide an immediate visual reference that helps users distinguish different types of apparatus without relying solely on unit names or identifiers.
-
How
- Navigate to Dispatch Unit Setup.
- Select the Unit Subtype Colors tab.
- Locate the applicable apparatus subtype from the existing subtype list.
- Assign the desired color to the subtype.
- Save the configuration.
- Units assigned to the configured subtype automatically display the designated color on the Command Board, within Responder incident views, and in the Dispatch Unit table.
- To assign subtypes to multiple units at once, use the Import Wizard and map the Subtype field during the import process.
- This feature is optional and does not require existing unit records to be backfilled. Organizations can configure and adopt subtype colors at their own pace without affecting existing unit configurations.
- Use Case - During a multi-unit response, users monitoring the Command Board or Responder views can quickly distinguish engines, ladders, rescues, and other apparatus types using their configured colors without having to read each individual unit label. Administrators managing larger fleets can also use the Import Wizard to assign subtypes in bulk, allowing the appropriate colors to display automatically across supported operational views without manually updating each unit.
