Register for the WebinarMedication Par Management
Par Management introduces enhanced inventory visibility for medications stored within Med Kits, helping users quickly understand current stock levels and identify when medications may need attention. Medication cards now use color-coded inventory statuses based on the available quantity compared with configured Minimum (MIN) and Par Level (PAR) values. The guide below provides a quick reference for understanding these visual indicators before exploring the new Par Management capabilities in more detail. Review all features listed below to learn more.
Medication Par Values and Inventory Status
- What - Medication inventory now supports optional Par Values in addition to minimum values, providing greater visibility into desired medication stock levels. Medication cards display current quantity and configured inventory thresholds, remain visible when quantity reaches zero, and use inventory status indicators to help users quickly identify medications requiring attention.
- Why - Par values provide a more complete way to manage medication inventory by distinguishing the desired stocking level from the minimum acceptable quantity. Keeping zero-quantity medications visible also ensures that depleted medications do not disappear from the kit view when they most need attention.
-
How
- Configure a Par Value for a medication when setting up its inventory requirements in Med Kit management. Par values are optional and must be equal to or greater than the configured minimum value.
- View the medication within its med kit to see its current Quantity and configured Par Value.
- When a minimum is configured, the medication card also displays the minimum inventory information.
- Medication card status messaging prioritizes active occurrence issues, followed by expiration information and then restock needs.
- Medications with a quantity of 0 remain visible on the med kit rather than being removed from the medication list.
- A medication with zero quantity displays its form and zero-stock status without evaluating expiration or minimum information.
- Use Case - A medication may have a minimum quantity representing the point at which stock becomes critical and a higher par value representing the desired stocked quantity. Personnel reviewing the med kit can compare the current quantity against those values and immediately see when a medication is depleted or needs to be replenished.
Medication Low-Stock Notifications
- What - Medication inventory can now generate Critical Low Stock notifications when quantities fall below configured minimum values, giving users a dedicated way to identify and act on medications approaching depletion.
- Why - Proactive low-stock notifications help users identify critical medication shortages before they affect kit readiness and provide clearer prioritization when multiple medications require replenishment.
-
How
- Configure a Minimum Value for medications that require low-stock monitoring.
- When inventory falls below the configured minimum, a Critical Low Stock notification is generated.
- Below-minimum medications are available from the medications dashboard and can be prioritized based on stock severity.
- Select a notification to access the corresponding medication details.
- Inventory reporting can be filtered for Below Minimum Value medications.
- When inventory is replenished above the minimum, the corresponding critical low-stock notification is automatically resolved.
- Notification delivery can use configured notification preferences, including supported in-app and email channels.
- Use Case - If a medication has a configured minimum and usage causes one pouch's inventory to fall below that threshold, users can identify the affected medication and pouch, navigate to its details, and take action to replenish the inventory.
Pouch-Level Medication Inventory Management
- What - Medication inventory within med kits now supports the same medication and form across multiple pouches while maintaining separate quantities and inventory thresholds for each location. Medication operations—including receiving, usage, transfers, removals, and inventory counts—now maintain pouch-level inventory so stock changes are associated with the correct location.
- Why - Medications stored in multiple locations within the same kit need to be managed independently. Pouch-level inventory prevents quantities from being combined at the kit level and provides more accurate tracking of where medications are stored and where inventory activity occurs.
-
How
- Configure the same medication and form in more than one pouch when medications need to be stocked in multiple locations.
- During Receiving, medications configured in multiple pouches can be associated with the appropriate pouch so the received quantity is added to that location.
- During Usage, expand the pouch and medication information to select medication inventory from the appropriate location before continuing through the standard usage process.
- During Transfer, medication availability is displayed by pouch. When multiple destination pouches are possible, quantities can be allocated to the appropriate pouch locations before confirming the transfer.
- During Removal, select the appropriate pouch so the removed quantity and removal reason are recorded against that location.
- During Counting, identical medications stored in different pouches can be counted independently, with expected quantities, counted quantities, and variances maintained by pouch.
- Completed pouch-specific activity is retained with the applicable pouch information in transaction or event history.
- Use Case - A kit may carry the same medication and form in two different pouches for accessibility or stocking purposes. Users can maintain separate quantities for each pouch, receive new inventory into the appropriate location, document usage from the pouch where it occurred, count each location independently, and transfer or remove stock without incorrectly changing the quantity in the other pouch.

Improved Med Kit Pouch Management
- What - Med kit pouch management has been enhanced with a default pouch and clearer medication assignment workflows. The default pouch is available for new and existing med kits, appears first in the pouch list, and provides a consistent location for medications that do not have another configured pouch.
- Why - A persistent default pouch simplifies med kit setup and ensures medications always have a clear inventory location, while improved pouch controls make it easier to organize medications and understand how inventory is assigned throughout the kit.
-
How
- Open the med kit Pouch configuration to view the default pouch alongside any additional configured pouches.
- The default pouch appears first and remains visible even when it does not currently contain medications.
- Use + Pouch to create additional pouch locations and Reorder to manage their order.
- Use + Medications within a pouch to assign medications and their applicable inventory configuration to that pouch.
- Use Move to Pouch when available to relocate assigned medications between pouch locations.
- Medications received without another configured pouch location are placed in the default pouch.
- The default pouch can be renamed but cannot be deleted.
- Empty pouches display guidance indicating that no medications are currently assigned.
- Use Case - When configuring a med kit, users can keep medications in the default pouch or create additional pouches to match the kit's physical organization. Medications assigned to specific pouches are managed there, while medications without another configured location have a consistent default destination.
Feature Enhancements
Updated Med Kit Groups Table
- What - The Med Kit Groups table in Medications Setup has been updated to use the newer interface design, providing a more consistent experience with other areas of the platform while retaining existing Med Kit Groups functionality.
- Why - Updating the Med Kit Groups table to the newer interface standard creates a more consistent experience when configuring Medications and brings this area of setup in line with current platform design patterns.
-
How
- Navigate to Medications Setup > Med Kit Groups.
- The Med Kit Groups table now displays using the updated interface.
- Continue managing Med Kit Groups using the existing functionality available from the table.
- Use Case - When managing Med Kit Groups as part of medication configuration, users will see the updated table experience while continuing to access the existing functionality needed to manage their groups.
