-
What - A new Merge Tool is now available within Global Contacts, allowing users to combine duplicate contact records into a single, unified contact through a guided, full-page workflow.
-
Why - Duplicate contact records can create confusion and inconsistency across an agency's data. This tool gives users a structured way to consolidate contacts while maintaining control over which information is retained.
-
How
- Navigate to Global Contacts and select the contact records you wish to merge
- Review the onboarding modal that introduces the merge workflow before proceeding
- On the full-page merge layout, review and select the desired values for single-value fields and multi-select fields
- If needed, designate or confirm the base contact — the primary record the merged data will be associated with
- Review your selections on the merge confirmation step before finalizing
- Upon completion, a post-merge success state will confirm the merge was processed successfully
-
Note: There is a merge limit (5) on the number of contacts that can be combined in a single merge action
-
Use Case
- A user notices two records exist for the same individual and uses the Merge Tool to combine them into one accurate contact.
- A user merging records can choose which phone number, address, or other field values to keep when the two contacts contain conflicting information.
- A user can confirm the base contact to ensure the correct primary record is preserved after the merge is complete.
