Bulk Update Capabilities Expanded Across Asset Management

What - Bulk Update capabilities have been expanded and standardized across supported Assets workflows, including Equipment, Inventory Type Lists, Apparatus, Equipment Groups, and Apparatus Groups. The experience follows the existing Equipment bulk-update pattern, providing a consistent two-step workflow for updating eligible metadata across multiple records.
Why - Bulk-editing capabilities and available fields previously varied across asset types, creating an inconsistent experience for users performing high-volume administrative maintenance. Standardizing the workflow makes it easier to update multiple records efficiently while maintaining existing permissions, field-management rules, and protections for operationally sensitive data.
How
- Navigate to a supported Assets list and select the records you want to modify.
- Open the Actions menu and select Bulk Update.
- In Step 1, select the eligible Fields to Edit, then select Next.
- In Step 2, enter the new values for the selected fields and select Save.
- After saving, lightweight feedback identifies successful updates and any records that were skipped or failed.
- Access to Bulk Update is controlled by five new permissions:
  - Apparatus - Assets - Bulk Update Apparatus – Allows users to access the Apparatus List and perform bulk updates to apparatus records.
  - Apparatus - Assets - Bulk Update Apparatus Groups – Allows users to access Apparatus Groups in Setup and perform bulk updates to group affiliation.
  - Equipment - Assets - Bulk Update Equipment – Allows users to access the Equipment List and perform bulk updates to equipment records.
  - Equipment - Assets - Bulk Update Equipment Groups – Allows users to access Equipment Groups in Setup and perform bulk updates to group affiliation.
  - Inventory - Assets - Bulk Update Inventory Types – Allows users to access Inventory in Setup and bulk update inventory item information, including group, minimum, par, and quantity information.
- Note: Users must also have the applicable Setup permissions to access and perform Bulk Updates for Apparatus Groups, Equipment Groups, and Inventory within Setup.
- Available fields depend on the asset type, field configuration, and user permissions. Restricted, read-only, system-managed, unique identifier, and operationally sensitive fields are not available for bulk editing.
- Apparatus Status, assignment workflows, and other operational state-transition workflows remain separate from Bulk Update.
- Existing record-level access restrictions continue to apply, and affected records receive history entries for changes made through Bulk Update.
Use Case - A user performing routine asset maintenance can select multiple Equipment records and update shared metadata in a single action rather than opening each record individually. The same standardized workflow can be used to update administrative Apparatus information, normalize Inventory Type data, or maintain supported Equipment and Apparatus Group information, provided the user has the required Bulk Update and applicable Setup permissions.
