Register for the WebinarNative Course Builder with Structured Authoring, Player, and Version Control (New Feature)
- What – Training now includes a native Course Builder that allows administrators to create, publish, assign, and manage structured courses using mixed content types such as files, assessments, and SCORM content. Courses can include configurable completion criteria, due dates, retake rules, and version control, while learners access assigned content through a unified Course Player that preserves progress and supports consistent course completion.
- Why – This feature provides a centralized and auditable training experience that helps preserve the integrity of assigned, delivered, and completed coursework. Course versioning and version-specific completion records support reliable compliance verification while reducing reliance on separate tools or inconsistent training delivery methods.
-
How
- This feature must be enabled before it is available in your environment.
- Training administrators can use the Course Builder to assemble mixed content into a structured course sequence and define completion criteria, due dates, and retake rules.
- Publish courses and assign them directly to personnel, include them in Training Plans, or make them available for self-enrollment.
- When course content changes, create a new course version within the existing course family to preserve the historical record of content completed by previous learners.
- Learners access assigned courses through the Course Player, which saves progress, supports resuming after interruptions, and displays completion status and results.
- Instructors can review and manually grade quiz submissions when an assessment requires human evaluation.
- Authorized reporting users can review course outcomes, version history, completion timing, and override activity for compliance verification.
- Completion records remain associated with the specific course version completed by each learner, preserving the audit history.
- Use Case – A training administrator can build and publish a certification course containing video content and a scored quiz, assign it to personnel, and establish completion requirements within one workflow. If a learner is interrupted during the course, they can later resume from their saved progress. During a compliance review, authorized users can verify the exact course version completed, along with the completion date, score, and any recorded overrides.
Quiz Builder and Assessment Engine (New Feature)
- What – Training now includes a native Quiz Builder and Assessment Engine for creating, publishing, versioning, delivering, grading, and reporting on quizzes. Administrators can configure passing thresholds, attempt limits, timers, resume behavior, navigation rules, question randomization, review settings, and feedback visibility, while supporting automatic grading, manual grading for free-text responses, previewing, version preservation, additional-attempt overrides, and audit history.
- Why – This enhancement gives training programs a more consistent way to validate learner comprehension beyond course completion alone. Version-controlled assessments, preserved attempts, configurable scoring and review settings, and audit history help support compliance and operational readiness, while resume functionality helps protect learner progress when training is interrupted.
-
How
- In Training, open Quiz Management and select Create Quiz.
- In the Quiz Builder, enter the Title and Description, add questions, and configure applicable settings such as Max Attempts, Passing Threshold, Quiz Timer, Question Timer, Resume Enabled, Navigation Mode, Progression Mode, Review Mode, Review Timing, Manual Feedback Visibility, Randomize Question Order, and Require Sequential Order.
- Add the required questions. Supported graded question types include single choice, multi-select, true/false, free text, numeric, matching, ordering, and fill-in-the-blank.
- Note: All questions are graded, and partial credit is not supported.
- Select Preview to simulate the learner experience before publishing. Preview does not create or consume an attempt, save responses, mark the quiz as used, or affect reporting.
- Select Publish when the quiz is complete. A quiz must include a title, at least one question, a passing threshold, and complete question configuration before it can be published.
- In Course Builder, select Add Content → Quiz and choose an available published quiz. Only published quizzes can be attached to course modules.
- Published quizzes can be edited directly until the first learner attempt is created. After a quiz has been used, select Duplicate to create a new draft, make changes, and publish the updated version.
- Learners beginning a quiz for the first time are routed to the latest published version. Learners with an in-progress attempt remain on the version they started, and learners who have already passed are not automatically moved to a newer version.
- Use FORWARD_ONLY navigation to prevent learners from returning to previous questions, or FREE navigation to allow backward and forward movement. Require Sequential Order can prevent access to future questions until the current question is answered.
- When Resume is enabled, saved responses, the last viewed question, and applicable timer state are restored when the learner returns without consuming another attempt. If resume is disabled, exiting submits the current attempt after a warning.
- Objective questions are graded automatically at submission. Attempts containing free-text responses move to Pending Grading until an authorized user opens the Grading Queue, scores the responses, optionally adds feedback, and finalizes grading.
- Configure Review Mode, Review Timing, and Manual Feedback Visibility to control what learners may review and when.
- If a learner reaches the configured attempt limit without passing, additional attempts can be granted by an authorized user without changing historical attempt records.
- Use Case – An administrator can create a required knowledge assessment with multiple-choice, ordering, and free-text questions, set an 80% passing threshold, limit attempts, enable resume behavior, and require sequential progression. After previewing and publishing the quiz, it can be added to a course module. A learner interrupted during the assessment can resume the same attempt without losing progress or consuming another attempt, while objective questions are graded automatically and free-text responses are routed for manual review. If the assessment later needs to be updated, a new version can be created while previous attempts and results remain tied to the version originally completed.
