The Investigation List provides a centralized location to view, create, manage, authorize, print, download, and delete Fire Investigation records. This grid helps users quickly locate investigations, monitor status, and complete investigation workflows efficiently.
Background Information
The Investigation List displays all Fire Investigations in a configurable grid. Users can filter results, customize columns, use saved views, manage report status, and perform individual or bulk actions.
Common actions include:
- Creating a new investigation
- Starting or editing incomplete investigations
- Authorizing pending investigations
- Viewing investigation history
- Printing or downloading investigation records
- Deleting investigations when appropriate

Step-by-Step Guide
1. Navigate to the Investigation List
- Navigate to the Fire Investigation module.
- Select Investigation List.
2. View or Create Investigations
- A list of all Fire Investigations will populate in the grid.
- To create a new investigation, select the + Add button.
3. Use Grid Tools
- Use the grid tools to:
- Apply Filters
- Adjust Columns
- Search using the magnifying glass
4. Filter the Investigation List
- Select Filter.
- Apply one or more filter criteria.
- Select Apply to update the results.
5. Customize Columns
- Select Columns.
- Show or hide available columns within the grid.
Note:
The Investigation Number column cannot be removed.
6. Access Custom Views
- Select the down arrow to display available views.
- Views may include:
- Custom Views
- Shared with Me views
- Use:
- Star icon to mark as a favorite
- Thumbtack icon to set as the default view
7. Manage Views
- Select the three dots next to a view.
- Available options may include:
- Edit view
- Add view
- Clone existing view
- Copy link
- Delete view
8. Adjust the Column Layout
- Rearrange columns by dragging them into position.
- Resize columns by selecting and dragging the column divider.
- Sort columns by selecting the column header.
9. Adjust Display, Download Grid, or Navigate Pages
- Use the display dropdown to choose how many investigations appear.
- Select the Download button to export the grid to a CSV file.
- Use Previous and Next to move between pages.
10. Use the Actions Column
- Use the Actions column to manage individual investigations.
- Available actions may include:
- Start
- Edit
- Authorize
- View recent history
- Download
- Delete
- Select the three dots to view additional actions.
- Use the arrow to expand the full Actions column.
11. Understand Status Icons
- Play icon — Investigation has not been started
- Pencil icon — Investigation is incomplete or pending authorization
- Eye icon — Investigation is authorized and view-only
12. View Investigation History
- Select the clock icon.
- A history modal will display Fire Investigation history details.
13. Authorize a Pending Investigation
- For investigations in Pending Authorization status, select the authorization icon.
- The selected investigation will be authorized based on user permissions.
14. Print an Investigation
- Select the printer icon.
- A modal will open.
- Select one of your agency’s created form templates to print the investigation.
15. Download an Investigation
- Select the download icon to download the selected investigation to a CSV file.
16. Delete an Investigation
- Select the trashcan icon.
- A warning modal will appear.
- Confirm deletion if appropriate.
17. Use Bulk Features
- Select multiple investigations using the checkboxes.
- Bulk action options will appear:
- Download
- Authorize
- Delete
18. Bulk Download Investigations
- Select the bulk Download option.
- Choose the export format:
- CSV
- XLSX

Troubleshooting & FAQs
Why can’t I remove the Investigation Number column?
Investigation Number is required and cannot be hidden from the grid.
Why do I only see the eye icon?
The investigation is authorized and available in view-only mode.
Why can’t I authorize an investigation?
You may not have authorization permissions, or the investigation may not be in Pending Authorization status.
Why do I need to select a template when printing?
Printed investigations use agency-created form templates to determine the report layout.
Can I export multiple investigations at once?
Yes. Select multiple investigations and use the bulk Download option to export as CSV or XLSX.
