Purpose Statement
The Notifications settings within the Events & Activities Module allow administrators to control when notifications are generated and who receives them.
Proper configuration ensures personnel are informed of new events, updates, reminders, and daily summaries—while preventing unnecessary notifications, especially when documenting past activities.

The Events & Activities Module supports automated communication for event assignments, updates, reminders, and summaries. Notification settings help departments:
Keep assigned personnel informed of upcoming commitments
Alert event creators when changes are made
Provide leadership with daily summaries
Prevent unnecessary alerts for back-entered historical events
These settings are especially important for agencies that frequently enter events after they occur, as improperly configured notifications may trigger alerts for past activities.

Step-by-Step Guide
Access Notification Settings
Navigate to Events & Activities from the main navigation menu.
Select Setup.
Click on Notifications.
Configure Event Action Notifications
Locate the Event Notifications section.
Enable Send Notification to Assigned Users.
Assigned participants will receive notifications when relevant actions occur.
Enable Notify Event Creator.
The user who created the event will be notified when updates or changes are made.
If your department documents past events, enable Send Only Future Events.
This prevents notifications from being sent for previously completed activities entered retroactively.
Configure Daily Digest of Events & Activities
Navigate to the Daily Digest section within Notifications.
Select the users who should receive the daily summary email.
Choose which modules are included in the digest.
The Daily Digest provides selected users with a consolidated overview of scheduled or upcoming activities.
Configure Event Reminders
Locate the Event Reminder section.
Enable Event Reminders.
Set the number of hours in advance the reminder should be sent.
Select which Event Types should trigger reminders.
Assigned employees will receive automated reminder notifications based on the configured timeframe.
Configure Daily Log Summary Notifications
Navigate to the Daily Log notification area.
Select the users who should receive the Daily Log Summary Email.
Selected users will receive a summary email containing daily log activity.
Best Practices
Enable Send Only Future Events if your department regularly enters historical events.
Limit Daily Digest recipients to supervisors or command staff to reduce email fatigue.

Troubleshooting & FAQs
Users are receiving notifications for past events. Why?
Ensure the Send Only Future Events option is enabled. If disabled, notifications may trigger for events entered after they occurred.
An assigned employee did not receive a reminder.
Confirm they are properly assigned to the event.
Verify Event Reminders are enabled.
Check the hours-in-advance configuration.
Confirm their email address is correct in their user profile.
The event creator is not receiving update notifications.
Ensure the Notify Event Creator option is enabled in Notification Settings.
A user is not receiving the Daily Digest.

Can different event types have different reminder times?
Reminder timing is configured globally. However, administrators can choose which event types are included.
