Purpose Statement
The Programs area within the Events & Activities Module allows administrators to create and manage high-level categories used to organize event types.
Programs help structure events into meaningful groupings, improving reporting accuracy, filtering, and overall data organization.
Background Information
Programs function as overarching categories within the Events & Activities Module. Event Types can be associated with a Program to provide structured organization across training, prevention, community outreach, compliance, or other departmental initiatives.
For example:
A Training Program may include multiple event types such as Live Burn, EMS CE, or Officer Development.
A Community Risk Reduction Program may include Public Education, School Visits, and Station Tours.
Programs are displayed in a sortable table, allowing administrators to quickly locate, edit, or archive entries.
Associating event types to a program is optional but recommended for reporting and filtering consistency.
Required Permissions
Users must have the following permissions:

Best Practices
Establish standardized naming conventions for programs (e.g., “2026 Training Program” vs. “Training 2026”).
Use programs to align with department initiatives, budget categories, or compliance reporting requirements.
Associate event types whenever possible to improve reporting and filtering capabilities.
Archive unused or outdated programs rather than deleting them to preserve historical reporting.
Periodically review programs to ensure alignment with operational objectives.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
Is associating event types required when creating a program?
No. Event types may be added during creation or updated later.
What happens if I archive a program?
Archived programs are removed from active selection but remain tied to historical records for reporting accuracy.
Can I assign multiple event types to one program?
Yes. Multiple event types can be associated with a single program.
Can programs be deleted instead of archived?
If deletion is available, use caution. Archiving is recommended to maintain data integrity and historical reporting consistency.
Why is a program not appearing in the list?
Ensure sorting or filtering options are not limiting the view, and confirm the program has not been archived.
