The Objectives section within the Training Module Setup allows administrators to create, manage, and organize learning objectives that can be associated with training categories, topics, and standards. This feature enables structured educational planning by defining specific learning outcomes and supporting them with multimedia content, documents, and SCORM-compliant e-learning materials.
Background Information
Objectives serve as measurable learning outcomes within your training program structure, working in conjunction with categories, topics, and standards to create comprehensive educational frameworks. They define what learners should accomplish or understand after completing specific training components. The system supports two types of objectives: regular objectives (non-learning) that can include YouTube videos and various document attachments, and e-learning objectives that support SCORM files for interactive learning experiences. This dual approach accommodates different learning methodologies while maintaining compliance with e-learning standards.
SCORM,
which stands for Sharable Content Object Reference Model, is a set of
technical standards for eLearning that ensures eLearning content and learning
management systems (or LMSs) can communicate and work together
seamlessly. It essentially provides a standardized way for online learning
content to be packaged, delivered, and tracked within an LMS.

Best Practices
Do's
Create clear, measurable objective statements that define specific learning outcomes
Use SCORM-compliant files for interactive e-learning experiences
Associate objectives with relevant categories, topics, and standards when available
Use the bulk import feature for efficient setup of multiple objectives
Include detailed descriptions to help instructors understand the objective's purpose
Test SCORM files before uploading to ensure compatibility
Don'ts
Don't mix YouTube links and other attachments in regular objectives
Don't switch between regular and e-learning objective types without saving important attachments first
Don't delete objectives that have been used in training classes
Don't use vague or unmeasurable objective statements
Don't upload non-SCORM files to e-learning objectives expecting interactive functionality
Tips & Recommendations
Plan your objective structure before bulk importing to ensure consistency
Use descriptive naming conventions that clearly identify the learning outcome
Remember that associations with categories, topics, and standards can be added later
Keep YouTube links relevant and current for regular objectives
Consider creating both regular and e-learning versions of important objectives to accommodate different learning preferences
Regularly review and update objectives to maintain educational relevance
Troubleshooting & FAQs
Q: What is SCORM and why is it important for e-learning objectives? A: SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) is a set of technical standards that ensures e-learning content can communicate with learning management systems. It provides standardized packaging, delivery, and tracking for online learning content.
Q: Why can't I add both YouTube links and other attachments to the same objective? A: The system restricts regular objectives to either YouTube links OR document attachments, not both. This maintains clear content organization and prevents conflicts.
Q: What happens to my attachments when I switch from regular to e-learning objective? A: All existing attachments will be lost when switching objective types. The system provides a confirmation warning before making this change.
Q: Can I delete an objective that's been used in training classes? A: No, objectives that have been associated with training classes cannot be deleted. Use the deactivate function instead to preserve historical training data.
Q: What file types can I attach to objectives? A: Regular objectives support PDFs, Word documents, audio files, video files, and other standard document formats. E-learning objectives support SCORM files plus additional supporting documents.
Q: What information is included in bulk imports? A: Bulk imports only include objective names and descriptions. All other associations and attachments must be added individually after import.
