Training Module Setup: Adding a Category

Purpose

  1. To explain how to add a Category within the Categories Section of the Training Module Setup.
TIP:  Training Categories are like the "big branches" on the training "tree": There are relatively few and are they are high level. Another way to look at Training Categories is like buckets of information: Training Categories are the biggest buckets for organizing training records.

Examples of Training Categories include:
  1. Administration
  2. Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting (ARFF)
  3. Community Risk Reduction
  4. Driver / Operator
  5. EMS
  6. 
Fire Operations 
  7. Fire Prevention
  8. Higher Education Courses
  9. Special Operations

Navigation

  1. Navigate to Training > Setup > Categories.




  2. Select Add Category.




  3. Enter the name of the Training Category.

  4. The "Validation Required?" checkbox is still in development (Aug 2022). This step will be updated upon deployment of this feature.

  5. Select Create. That's it...nice job!





  6. In the Actions column you can editor archivea Training Category.

    NOTE: Categories in use (assigned to a class) cannot be deleted.





  7. You can use the filters at the top of the page to search the Training Categories by
    1. Name
    2. Created Start Date
    3. Created End Date
    4. Created By

  8. Select Search.




  9. Additionally, you can view archived Training Categories by selecting the Archived tab.




  10. By checking one or more boxes in the leftmost column, you can bulk archive Training Categories.
