This
article outlines how to configure hydrant display settings within the Hydrant
Module. It helps administrators control how hydrants are identified and what
data is shown to users, improving clarity and reducing unnecessary information
Background Information
The
Hydrant Module allows departments to manage and view hydrant data across their
jurisdiction. Proper setup ensures hydrants are easily identifiable and only
relevant data is shown to field users. This setup is typically performed during
initial configuration or when updating data display preferences
Required Permissions
Only users with Admin or Configuration permissions can create, edit, or delete Hydrant Zones. These permissions can be managed under Admin > Roles & Permissions > Hydrant Module.

Step-by-Step Guide
1.
Navigate to the Hydrant Module, Then Select Hydrant Setup and finally Field Selection
2. Select the Hydrant Header that will serve as the main identifier for
each hydrant.
The Facility ID is a department-generated ID typically linked to
a building, complex, or facility.
The Hydrant ID is a department-generated
hydrant number or ID.
The First Due ID is a system-generated, unique ID
assigned by First Due. This field is not editable and was previously labeled as
'Hydrant Number.'
3. Select the toggle to turn ON or OFF the displaying of all Hydrant Columns in Pop-up.
When enabled, all available hydrant
fields will be shown when a hydrant is selected. Any NULL or Empty fields will be hidden.
When disabled, you can
manually select which fields to display. Again, Any NULLL or Empty fields will be Hidden.
It is recommended to select only the
fields your department actively uses to avoid clutter and improve usability for
field personnel.
Best Practices
Use consistent ID formats across your department to avoid
confusion.
Limit displayed fields to those actively used to streamline the user
interface.
Avoid enabling all fields unless necessary, as this can overwhelm
users with irrelevant or empty data.
Review field selections periodically as
department needs evolve.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
Q: Why can’t I edit the First Due ID?
A: The First Due ID is system-generated and locked to ensure data integrity
across the platform.
Q: What happens if I change the primary header field later?
A: The display will update across the module, but no data will be lost. Ensure
all users are informed of the change.
Q: Can I customize which fields are shown for different user roles?
A: Not at this time. Field display settings apply globally across the
department.
