Enabling the AI - Generation Permission for Fire Reports

Enabling the AI - Generation Permission for Fire Reports

Purpose

Enable AI generation capabilities for fire incident narratives in the NFIRS module. This permission allows authorized users to leverage artificial intelligence to assist with incident report documentation, reducing manual entry time and improving narrative consistency.

Background Information

The AI generation feature uses artificial intelligence to help create comprehensive incident narratives based on data entered in the NFIRS report. This tool assists users in generating detailed, consistent narratives while maintaining compliance with NFIRS reporting standards. The feature is particularly useful for streamlining documentation workflows and ensuring thorough incident descriptions.

Note: AI must be setup as an option for your agency configuration before it can be turned on as a permission. If you turn on the permission and still do not see the icon, please reach out to your Client Success Manager or Support.

Common Use Cases:

Best Practices

Do:
  1. Enable AI generation for roles that regularly complete NFIRS incident reports
  2. Train users on reviewing and editing AI-generated narratives for accuracy
  3. Encourage users to verify all AI-generated content before finalizing reports
  4. Document any department-specific narrative standards that should be applied
Don't:
  1. Enable this permission for roles that don't have incident reporting responsibilities
  2. Rely solely on AI-generated content without review
  3. Assume AI generation replaces the need for thorough incident documentation training
