The Hydrant Types feature allows agencies to define, customize, and manage different hydrant classifications within the system. This helps standardize hydrant identification, improve visual mapping, and streamline inspection and response workflows.
Background Information
Hydrant Types are configured within the Hydrant Setup section of the Hydrant Module. Agencies can use default hydrant types or create custom ones to match operational needs, such as differentiating hydrant models, flow capacities, or jurisdictional standards.
This feature is commonly used for:
Visual identification on maps and dashboards
Standardizing hydrant data across personnel
Supporting inspection and maintenance workflows
Required Permissions
Users may require the following permissions:
Hydrant Module Access
Hydrant Setup Configuration
Create/Edit Hydrant Types
Delete Hydrant Types (optional, admin-level)

Step-by-Step Guide
Access Hydrant Types
Navigate to Hydrant Module
Select Hydrant Setup
Scroll down and click Hydrant Types
Create a New Hydrant Type
In the upper-right corner, hover over Hydrant Type
Click Add Hydrant Type
Enter a Name for the hydrant type
Select or customize the Background Color
Upload an Image/Icon (optional)
Click Create
Confirm the new hydrant type appears in the list
Filter Hydrant Types
Hover over and click the Filter option
Select filter criteria:
Code
Name
Status (Active/Inactive)
Click Apply Filters
View filtered results on the dashboard
Search Hydrant Types
Use the Search Bar
Enter keywords related to the hydrant type
Review matching results instantly
Edit or Delete Hydrant Types
Locate the hydrant type in the list
Use the Actions Column:
Click Edit to modify
Click Delete (if permitted) to remove
Customize Table View
Drag and drop columns to your preferred position
Sort columns by:
Ascending
Descending
Default
Adjust Display & Export Data
Select number of records to display:
20, 50 (default), or 100
Click Export/Download to generate a CSV file of the current view

Use consistent naming conventions for hydrant types
Assign clear and distinct colors for quick visual recognition
Avoid duplicating similar hydrant types
Regularly review and deactivate unused types instead of deleting them
Ensure images/icons are standardized across the agency
