Med Kit List - Duplicating a Med Kit

 

Purpose Statement

This article explains how to duplicate an existing Med Kit within the Med Kit List. Duplicating a kit allows users to quickly create additional kits with the same configuration, reducing setup time and ensuring consistency across multiple kits.

Background Information

Departments often maintain multiple Med Kits with the same medication configurations across stations, vehicles, or apparatus. The Duplicate Kit feature allows users to copy an existing Med Kit, including its structure and settings, instead of manually recreating each one.

Users can duplicate a kit up to 20 times at once, assigning each duplicate a unique Kit ID, while optionally assigning the kits to a specific location.

This feature helps streamline setup when deploying standardized kits across multiple operational units.

Required Permissions

Users must have appropriate permissions within the Medications module to duplicate Med Kits.

Typical permissions may include:

  • Medications Module Access

  • Med Kit Management (Create/Edit)

  • Med Kit Configuration Permissions

  • Administrative or Supervisor-level access

Permission availability may vary based on department configuration.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Navigate to the Med Kit List

  1. Navigate to the Medications module.

  2. Select Med Kit List.

Navigate to Medications and select Med Kit List

 

2. Access the Kit Actions Menu

  1. Locate the Med Kit you want to duplicate.

  2. In the Actions column, select the three dots to expand the action icons.

Optional:
Select the Arrow icon next to the Actions column header to expand the action icons for all kits in the list.

From the Med Kit list within the Actions column, select the three dots to expand the action icons or by selecting the arrow next to Actions to expand every Med kits Action icons.

 

3. Select Duplicate

  1. Select the Duplicate icon for the kit you wish to copy.

Select the Duplicate icon from the kit you wish to copy.

 

4. Configure the Duplicate Kit

The Duplicate Kit modal will appear.

From this window you can duplicate the kit up to 20 times.

Complete the following fields:

  • Kit ID

    • Required

    • Must be unique for each kit

  • Kit Name

    • Required

    • Can remain the same across duplicated kits

  • Location

    • Optional

    • Allows you to assign the duplicated kit(s) to a specific location

From the Duplicate Kit modal you are able to duplicate a kit up to 20 times. Kit ID - Required and needs to be unique per kit Kit Name - Required can remain the same throughout kits The Location is optional but you are able to assign where the duplicated kit will be located.

 

5. Save the Duplicate Kit

  1. After entering the required information, select Save.

The system will create the duplicate kit or kits.

Once all information is entered select Save to create the duplicate kit or kits.

 

6. Confirmation Message

After saving, a confirmation message will appear indicating the duplication process has been completed successfully.

After selecting Save a confirmation will appear informing you the duplication process is complete.

 

7. Cancel the Duplication Process

  1. Select Cancel if you do not want to proceed.

  2. A confirmation modal will appear asking you to confirm closing the window without saving changes.

If you wish to cancel the duplication and after selecting cancel a confirmation modal appears to confirm closing without saving.

Best Practices

  • Use duplication when creating standardized kits for multiple vehicles or stations.

  • Ensure each duplicated kit has a unique Kit ID for accurate tracking.

  • Assign locations during duplication to avoid additional configuration later.

  • Review duplicated kits after creation to confirm proper assignment and configuration.

  • Use consistent kit naming conventions to maintain clear inventory management.

Why must the Kit ID be unique?
The Kit ID is used to uniquely identify each Med Kit in the system for tracking and inventory purposes.

How many kits can I duplicate at once?
You can duplicate a Med Kit up to 20 times in a single action.

Can duplicated kits have the same name?
Yes. Multiple kits can share the same Kit Name, but each must have a unique Kit ID.

Can I assign a location during duplication?
Yes. The Location field allows you to assign duplicated kits to a location during the duplication process.

What happens if I cancel the duplication process?
A confirmation modal will appear to confirm that you want to exit without saving.
