Purpose Statement
This article explains how to create and configure a custom view within the Personnel List in First Due. Custom views allow users to personalize how personnel records are displayed by selecting columns, organizing information, applying filters, and controlling who can access the view.
Custom views help departments quickly locate relevant personnel information, improve efficiency, and reduce the need to manually search through personnel records.
Background Information
The Personnel List provides a centralized location for viewing and managing personnel records within First Due.
Custom views allow users to tailor the Personnel List to their specific needs without changing the underlying personnel records.
With custom views, users can:
Select which columns appear in the Personnel List.
Rearrange and pin columns for easier navigation.
Sort personnel records using primary and secondary sorting options.
Apply filters and criteria to display specific personnel records.
Share custom views with all users or selected individuals.
Configure the number of personnel records displayed per page.
For example, a department may create a custom view that displays only personnel with the rank of Captain.
Required Permissions
Users must have the appropriate permissions to access the Personnel module and create custom views within the Personnel List.

Display only necessary columns: Avoid adding unnecessary fields that make the Personnel List difficult to navigate.
Pin important columns: Pin frequently referenced information so it remains visible when scrolling.
Use sorting strategically: Configure primary and secondary sorting to organize personnel records consistently.
Apply specific criteria: Use filters to narrow results and reduce the time spent searching for personnel.
Limit editing permissions: Avoid allowing multiple users to modify shared views unless necessary.
Choose appropriate pagination: Select 20, 50, or 100 records per page based on the amount of information you typically review.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
Why are certain personnel records missing from my custom view?
Review the filters and criteria applied to the view. Records that do not meet the configured conditions will not appear.
Can I display only personnel with a specific rank?
Yes. Add a criterion using the Rank field, set the operation to Equal To, and select the desired rank, such as Captain.
Can I change the order of columns in my custom view?
Yes. Within the Columns section, rearrange the selected columns into your preferred order.
What happens when I pin a column?
Pinning a column keeps it visible while you scroll horizontally through the remaining columns.
Can I sort personnel records using multiple columns?
Yes. You can configure a primary sort and a secondary sort. Each can be set to ascending or descending order.
Can I share my custom view with other users?
Yes. You can keep the view private, share it with everybody, or select specific users.
Should I allow other users to edit my custom view?
It is generally recommended to restrict editing access to prevent unintended changes to the shared view.
How many personnel records can I display per page?
The available pagination options are 20, 50, or 100 records per page.
Does creating a custom view change personnel records?
The described custom view settings control how personnel records are displayed. Selecting columns, sorting, and filtering do not themselves modify the underlying personnel data.
