Setting a Dashboard as Your Landing Page

Setting a Dashboard as Your Landing Page

Purpose Statement

This feature allows users to customize their default landing page when accessing First Due, enabling immediate access to their most frequently used dashboard view. By setting a preferred dashboard as the landing page, users can streamline their workflow and reduce the time needed to navigate to essential information upon login.

Background Information

The dashboard landing page setting is a user preference feature that determines which dashboard view appears immediately when a user logs into First Due or navigates to the main dashboard area. This customization is particularly valuable for different roles within fire and EMS departments, as supervisors may prefer operational dashboards while field personnel might prioritize incident or resource status views. The setting is user-specific and can be changed at any time to accommodate shifting responsibilities or seasonal operational needs.

Best Practices

  • Select a dashboard that aligns with your primary job responsibilities and daily workflow needs
  • Consider choosing dashboards with real-time data that provide immediate situational awareness
  • Review and update your landing page preference when your role responsibilities change or during seasonal operational shifts
  • Test your selection after saving to ensure the dashboard loads properly and displays expected information
  • Choose dashboards that load quickly to minimize login delays, especially on mobile devices or slower network connections

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Q: What happens if the dashboard I selected becomes unavailable or my permissions change? A: If your selected dashboard becomes inaccessible, the system will default to the standard dashboard view. You'll need to update your landing page preference to select an available option.

Q: Will changing my landing page affect other users in my department? A: No, the landing page setting is individual to your user account and will not impact other users' dashboard preferences or access.
