Step-by-Step Guide

Select the First Due (FD) icon in the upper left corner. Select Assets and then Dashboard.

Click on 10

Click on Dashboard

2. Navigate to My Apparatus

Selecting My Apparatus will take users to the overview of their assigned apparatus in Apparatus Checks.

3. Use the Station Filter

The station filter allows users to change the displayed station.

NotesNote: The filter is loaded with the first station as the default if an assignment has been defined for the authenticated user in the Scheduling module. If your agency does not use First Due's Scheduling module, this will become a sticky filter for whatever station the logged-in user selects.

Click on Station 41

4. Apply the Apparatus Filter

With the Apparatus filter, users can filter to specific apparatus.

Users are able to select other apparatus they may be responsible for beyond their primary apparatus assignment, if applicable.

Due Today displays all scheduled checks that are due that day regardless of asset type.

Incomplete Tab: Includes the options to Join or Resume incomplete checks.
    1. Join - A user is already inside the checklist
    2. Resume - The checklist was saved as a draft and can be resumed where left off

History Tab: Allows users to view the checklist history for that asset with the following actions available:

Best Practices

  • Start Your Shift Here: Use the Assets Dashboard as your first stop when beginning a shift to review all assigned checks and work orders
  • Filter Strategically: Set your station and apparatus filters at the start of your shift to focus on relevant assets
  • Monitor Due Today: Check the Due Today section regularly throughout your shift to stay on top of scheduled checks
  • Use Quick Links: Take advantage of the hyperlinks in Assigned Equipment, Assigned Kits, and My Work Orders sections for faster navigation to detailed views
  • Address Overdue Checks Promptly: Incomplete or overdue checks will remain visible until completed—prioritize these to maintain compliance
  • Join Collaborative Checks: If you see incomplete checks that others have started, use the Join function to contribute to team-based check completion
  • Review History When Needed: Use the History tab in the check modal to verify previous check results or identify recurring issues

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Q: Why don't I see a specific station in the station filter?

A: If you're using the Scheduling module, only stations where you have an active assignment will appear. If not using Scheduling, you should see all stations in your agency. Contact your administrator if expected stations are missing.

Q: A completed check is still showing in Due Today. Is this an error?

A: No, this is expected behavior. Checks will continue to appear in Due Today until the next scheduled occurrence date. For example, a daily check completed this morning will reappear tomorrow.

Q: I can't delete checklist history. Why not?

A: Delete permissions for checklist history are role-dependent. Contact your administrator if you believe you need this permission.

Q: Why don't I see any Assigned Equipment or Assigned Kits?

A: Equipment and kits must be specifically assigned to your user account. Contact your supervisor or administrator to request equipment/kit assignments.

Q: The apparatus filter shows apparatus I'm not assigned to. Should I see these?

A: Yes, this is intentional. The filter allows you to view apparatus beyond your primary assignment if you have responsibilities for multiple apparatus (e.g., relief assignments, training, supervision).

Q: Work orders aren't showing in My Work Orders section. Where are they?

A: The My Work Orders section only displays open work orders that are either assigned to you or submitted by you. Closed work orders or those assigned to others won't appear here. Use the Work Order Boards hyperlink for a complete view.

Q: What's the difference between "Resume" and "Join" for incomplete checks?

A: Resume allows you to continue a check you previously started. Join allows you to contribute to a check that another user has started, enabling collaborative check completion.

Q: Can I start a check from multiple locations on the dashboard?

A: Yes, checks can be started from Due Today, the specific asset type tabs (Station, Apparatus, Equipment, Kit), or the Assigned Equipment/Assigned Kit sections. All paths lead to the same check completion process.
