Release Notes - Dashboards

New Features

1. Dashboard sharing options.

  1. What: The ability to restrict or share a Dashboard with others.
  2. Why: Previously any Dashboard created was available to anyone with access to the Dashboards module.
  3. Where: Dashboards Module > Dashboards List > Create New or Edit Dashboard
  4. How: Since Dashboards can now be specific to certain users, we have added the ability to share with specific users or everyone.
  5. Use Case: An Inspector creates a Dashboard to monitor certain Inspection reports. They can now share the Dashboard with everyone in the agency or just the other Inspectors.

Settings:
  1. Only Me: this Dashboard will only be available to the user who created it.
  2. Everyone: this Dashboard will be visible to Everyone in the agency who has access to the Dashboards module.
  3. Selected Users: the creator of the Dashboard can choose users from a list of personnel in the agency to allow them access to this Dashboard.
  4. Allow other users to apply changes to this Dashboard: when this is checked, anyone given permission to view can also edit the Dashboard. (We recommend not checking this. Anyone who can view the Dashboard will have the option to Clone it and then can make changes to the cloned Dashboard instead.)
For more information see the article: Sharing a Dashboard

2. The ability to clone a Dashboard.

  1. What: The ability to clone (copy) a Dashboard into a new version of the Dashboard.
  2. Why: Cloning allows two or more versions of a Dashboard to be created. This allows changes to be made without changing the original.
  3. Where: Dashboard Module > Dashboard List > Action Items > Clone icon
  4. How: In the Dashboard List you want to click on the Clone Icon in the Actions column next to the Dashboard you want to clone. Then give it a new name.
  5. Use Case: The A shift Captain creates a great Dashboard for the morning routine. Then shares it with the other Captains. The B shift Captain is able to make a clone and then change or add a widget to suite the needs of B Shift better. You do not have to start with a new, blank Dashboard.
