New Features

1.  Status Change Notification
  • What - Introduced an automated email notification system that alerts relevant staff when medical kits are changed between In Service and Out of Service status. The system generates comprehensive notifications including kit details, status change reason, user information, timestamp, and direct system links.
  • Why - This new feature was developed due to a customer request to improve communication and accountability when medical kits are taken out of service or returned to service, ensuring appropriate personnel are immediately aware of equipment status changes that could impact response capabilities.
  • How - The notification system activates automatically when status changes occur:
    • Navigate to the Medications Module
    • Select the medical kit requiring status change
    • Mark the kit as Out of Service or In Service
    • Complete the status change action with required reason
    • Email notifications are automatically sent to configured recipients
    • Recipients receive emails with subject lines: [In Service: Med Kits] or [Out of Service: Med Kits]
    • Email content includes kit name/ID, reason, user, timestamp, and system link
  • Use Case - When a paramedic discovers expired medications during a daily equipment check and marks Kit 7 as out of service, the EMS supervisor, fleet manager, and supply coordinator automatically receive email notifications with the specific reason and timeline, enabling immediate replacement kit deployment and supply reorder without delays that could compromise response readiness.

2.  Med Kit List Updated to New List View
  • What - Updated the Med Kit List interface to utilize the newer platform list view component, providing an enhanced user experience with improved functionality, better performance, and modernized visual design consistent with other system modules.
  • Why - This update was implemented due to customer request to modernize the medications module interface and provide users with the improved functionality and user experience available in the newer platform components used throughout the system.
  • How - The updated list view is automatically available:
    • Navigate to the Med Kit List in the medications module
    • Experience the New List View interface with enhanced features
    • Utilize improved Sorting and Filtering capabilities
    • Access enhanced Search functionality
    • Benefit from Improved Performance and loading times
    • Note that all existing kit data and functionality remain unchanged
  • Use Case - EMS supervisors managing multiple medical kits across several stations can now more efficiently browse, search, and filter kit inventories using the enhanced interface, with faster loading times and improved sorting capabilities that streamline daily inventory management and compliance reporting tasks.

Enhancements

1.  Exp Date and Lot Number Display Options
  • What - Added new configuration options that allow departments to customize the display of expiration dates and lot numbers in medication events. Administrators can choose to show expiration date only, lot number only, or both parameters in Usage, Transfer, and Remove events within the medications module.
  • Why - This enhancement was implemented due to customer request to provide flexible medication tracking options that accommodate different department protocols and regulatory requirements for medication documentation and inventory management.
  • How - Configure medication display options through system setup:
    • Navigate to Setup in the medications module
    • Locate the Medication Display Configuration settings
    • Select your preferred display option:
      • Expiration Date only
      • Lot Number only
      • Both expiration date and lot number
    • Save the configuration settings
    • The selected display options will apply to all Usage, Transfer, and Remove events
  • Use Case - EMS supervisors can configure the system to display both expiration dates and lot numbers during medication usage events, enabling paramedics to quickly verify medication validity and document lot numbers for patient care reports while maintaining compliance with pharmaceutical tracking requirements and quality assurance protocols.

2.  Alphabetical Sorting for Med Supply and Kits
  • What - Added alphabetical sorting functionality for medications displayed in Med Kits and Med Supply card views. The system now displays medications in ascending order (A-Z) by default and includes a sort icon that allows users to toggle between ascending and descending alphabetical order.
  • Why - This enhancement was made due to customer request to improve medication organization and accessibility within kits and supply inventories, making it easier for users to locate specific medications quickly during both routine inventory management and emergency situations.
  • How - Use the alphabetical sorting feature in medication views:
    • Navigate to Med Kits or Med Supply sections
    • Medications display in Ascending Order (A-Z) by default
    • Locate the Sort Icon (horizontal lines with arrow) in the interface
    • Click the Sort Icon to toggle between:
      • Ascending order (A-Z)
      • Descending order (Z-A)
    • Sorting applies immediately to the current view
  • Use Case - Paramedics conducting pre-shift equipment checks can quickly locate specific medications like "Atropine" or "Zofran" in their medical kit by using the alphabetical sorting, reducing time spent searching through medication inventories and ensuring faster access to critical drugs during emergency responses where every second counts.
