Enhancements

1.  Hover Tooltip for Full Medication Names and Forms
  • What - Added hover tooltip functionality that displays complete medication names and forms when users hover over medication options during event selection processes. The medication selection interface has also been widened to display up to 80 characters for improved visibility of medication names.
  • Why - This enhancement was implemented due to customer request to improve medication identification accuracy during event processing by providing complete medication information on hover, reducing selection errors and ensuring personnel can confidently identify the correct medication even when names are truncated in the selection list.
  • How - The tooltip feature is automatically active during medication events:
    • Navigate to any medication event (Usage, Removal, Transfer, or Receive)
    • Access the Medication Selection interface with widened display area
    • Hover over any medication option in the selection list
    • Tooltip appears showing complete medication name and form information
    • Selection area displays up to 80 characters of medication names
    • Feature works across all medication event types
  • Use Case - Paramedics selecting "Morphine Sulfate 10mg/mL Injectable Solution" can hover over the truncated name in the selection list to view the complete medication name and form details, ensuring accurate selection between similar medications like different concentrations or delivery methods, preventing medication errors during critical patient care situations.

2.  Update User Behavior - Event Process and Med Log UI
  • What - Corrected the medication log user attribution system to properly display the actual personnel who performed medication events instead of showing the unit user account. The system now captures and displays the individual user specified in the User1 position during the signature process.
  • Why - This enhancement was made due to customer request to ensure accurate personnel accountability in medication logs by showing the actual person who performed the medication event rather than the generic unit login, improving audit trails and meeting clinical documentation requirements for medication administration records.
  • How - The corrected attribution works automatically during medication events:
    • Log in using unit user credentials
    • Perform any medication event requiring documentation
    • Complete signature process with individual name in User1 position
    • System captures the actual person's name from User1 field
    • Med log entry displays the individual person as the event performer
    • Unit user account no longer appears in medication logs
    • Change applies to all medication event types
  • Use Case - When Paramedic Smith uses the Medic 7 unit login to document epinephrine administration during an anaphylactic reaction response, the medication log now correctly shows "Smith, EMT-P" as the person who administered the medication rather than "Medic 7 Unit User," ensuring proper clinical accountability and meeting regulatory requirements for medication administration documentation and quality assurance reviews.

3. Update Expiring Medication Notifications
  • What - Enhanced the expiring medication notification emails to include lot number and expiration date information directly in the email body, providing complete medication identification details for expiring items without requiring system access to view this critical information.
  • Why - This improvement was implemented due to customer request to provide comprehensive medication identification information in expiration notifications, enabling supply coordinators and EMS supervisors to quickly identify specific medication batches and plan replacement orders without accessing the system for additional details.
  • How - Enhanced notifications are sent automatically:
    • System generates expiring medication notifications based on configured schedules
    • Email body now includes:
      • Lot Number for each expiring medication
      • Expiration Date for precise timing information
    • Recipients receive complete medication identification details
    • No additional system access required to identify specific medications
    • Existing notification recipients and schedules remain unchanged
  • Use Case - Supply coordinators receiving expiring medication notifications can immediately identify that "Epinephrine Auto-Injector, Lot #ABC123, Exp: 03/15/2024" needs replacement and can reference the specific lot number when placing reorder requests with pharmaceutical suppliers, ensuring accurate inventory rotation and preventing medication administration with expired products during emergency responses.

4.  New Medications and Forms
  • What - Added new medications to the system medication list and updated existing medication naming for improved clarity. Added Procainamide and Prednisolone to available medications, and renamed Sodium Chloride to "Sodium Chloride 0.9% (Normal Saline)" to provide more specific concentration and clinical identification information.
  • Why - This enhancement was implemented due to customer request to expand the available medication formulary with commonly used emergency medications and improve medication identification through more specific naming that includes concentration details for better clinical accuracy and safety.
  • How - New medications are automatically available in the system:
    • Access medication selection in any event (Usage, Transfer, Remove, Receive)
    • New medications available for selection:
      • Procainamide (ID: 8700)
      • Prednisolone (ID: 8638)
    • Updated medication naming:
      • Sodium Chloride now appears as "Sodium Chloride 0.9% (Normal Saline)"
    • All medications appear in standard medication selection interfaces
    • No additional configuration required
  • Use Case - Paramedics treating cardiac arrhythmias can now select Procainamide from the medication list for antiarrhythmic therapy, while the updated "Sodium Chloride 0.9% (Normal Saline)" naming helps distinguish normal saline from other sodium chloride concentrations, reducing medication selection errors and improving clinical documentation accuracy in patient care reports.

5.  Need a Broader Range of Expiration Viewing Options
  • What - Expanded the expired medication search filter dropdown in Med Kit and Med Supply pages to include additional time-frame viewing options. Added four new filter options: "Next 60 days", "Next 90 days", "Current and next month", and "Date" for more flexible expiration date management and planning.
  • Why - This enhancement was implemented due to customer request to provide more granular and flexible expiration date filtering options, enabling better medication inventory planning and proactive replacement scheduling based on different operational needs and supply chain timelines.
  • How - Use the expanded expiration filter options:
    • Navigate to Med Kit or Med Supply pages
    • Access the filter options dropdown
    • Select from the new time-frame options:
      • "Next 60 days" - Shows medications expiring within 60 days
      • "Next 90 days" - Shows medications expiring within 90 days
      • "Current and next month" - Shows medications expiring in current and following month
      • "Date" - Allows custom date range selection
    • Apply filter to view medications meeting selected criteria
    • Existing filter options remain available
  • Use Case - EMS supply coordinators can now filter medications expiring in the "Next 90 days" to plan quarterly medication orders and budget allocations, while using "Current and next month" filters for immediate restocking priorities, enabling more strategic inventory management that aligns with departmental purchasing cycles and prevents last-minute emergency medication orders.

6.  Sort Med Kit Location and Destination Dropdowns Alphanumerically
  • What - Implemented alphanumeric sorting for Med Kit location and destination dropdowns across all medication events and system areas. The sorting applies to Dashboard, Med Kits, Med Supply, and all event locations, with Transfer events also sorting destination options alphanumerically and preventing selection of the same kit as both location and destination.
  • Why - This enhancement was developed due to customer request to improve user experience and reduce selection errors by organizing Med Kit dropdowns in logical alphabetical order, making it easier to locate specific kits and preventing invalid transfer selections between the same kit location.
  • How - Alphanumeric sorting is automatically applied across all interfaces:
    • All locations display Med Kits in alphanumeric order:
      • Dashboard
      • Med Kits section
      • Med Supply section
      • All event locations
    • Transfer events include additional functionality:
      • Destination dropdown sorted alphanumerically
      • Selected location kit is excluded from destination options
      • Prevents invalid same-kit transfers
    • Sorting applies immediately without configuration needed
  • Use Case - Paramedics performing medication transfers between units can easily locate "Medic 3 Kit" and "Medic 7 Kit" in alphabetically sorted dropdowns, while the system automatically prevents them from accidentally selecting "Medic 3 Kit" as both the source and destination location, reducing transfer errors and improving medication accountability during inter-unit medication management operations.
