New Features

1. Full Page View for Count Event

Previously, initiating a Count event (e.g., verifying medication inventory, med kits, or asset items) opened in a limited modal view. With this release:
  1. The Count event now opens as a full page regardless of where it is started from.
  2. Aligns with the existing full-page design for other event types (e.g., Receive, Transfer, Waste).
  3. Paves the way for multi-action workflows, such as bulk actions and extended validations.

How it works:
1. Navigate to Any Supported Area:
  1. Dashboard
  2. Med Kit
  3. Med Supply
  4. Assets / Checklist
2. Start a Count:
  1. Select a Count-related action or item needing verification.
  2. Click “Start Count” or similar option.
3. Full Page Opens:
  1. The Count event now loads as a full-page experience.
  2. Includes clear headers, item tables, and action buttons optimized for larger screen use.
4. Complete Count and Save:
  1. Perform the count, document findings, and submit or save as needed.
  2. Navigation buttons appear at the top/bottom of the screen.

2. Expiring Medication Dashboard

Prior to this feature, users had no centralized, visual reference for tracking upcoming or expired medications. This created challenges for medication tracking, especially in agencies with high inventory turnover or limited stock management workflows.
The Expiring Medications Dashboard section introduces configurable visibility windows and a clean, actionable UI that surfaces high-priority expiration issues at a glance—both on desktop and mobile.

How it works:
1. Configure the Expiring Medications Threshold
  1. Navigate to: EMS Setup > Medication Settings
  2. Locate the toggle: “Expiring Medications Dashboard”
  3. Enable the toggle.
  4. Set the threshold in days (0–60) for what constitutes "expiring soon."
    1. Default value: 30 days
Info
Note: This setting defines which medications appear in the dashboard section based on their expiration date.

 2. View Expiring Meds in the Dashboard
  1. Open the Dashboard.
  2. Locate the new section labeled “EXPIRING MEDS.”
    1. This section displays:
      1. Groupings by Kit Name
    2. For each kit:
      1. Medication Name
      2. Form (e.g., vial, syringe)
      3. Number of Units
  3. Visual Cues:
    1. Red Band: Indicates the medication is EXPIRED.
    2. Amber Band: Indicates medication will expire within the configured threshold (e.g., “5 days”).
Click the navigation icon next to any kit name to open that specific kit and take action (replace, remove, or update inventory).

3. Expiring Medication Notifications

Previously, tracking expiring medications relied solely on manual checks or the dashboard view. This new feature leverages automated email notifications—similar to those used in the Assets module—to ensure critical users stay informed without needing to log in daily.
With this enhancement, supervisors, inventory managers, or designated teams can receive email alerts for medications nearing expiration within a specified window (up to 90 days in advance), enabling timely restocking and disposal.

How it works:
  1. Configure Expiration Notifications
    1. Navigate to EMS Setup > Medications > Expiration Notifications
    2. Toggle "Enable Expiring Medication Notifications" to ON
    3. Define the Days Prior to Expiration
      1. Must be between 1 and 90 days
      2. Determines how far in advance notifications will be sent
  2. Select Users and/or Teams to receive the email alerts
    1. Use the multi-select control to assign notification recipients
  3. Click Save
Receive Notification Emails
  1. Once configured:
    1. The system automatically checks inventory daily
    2. When medications match the expiration threshold, an email is sent to all configured users/teams

Enhancements

1. Hide Reversed Events

Added the "Hide Reversed Events" dropdown filter to the existing medication logs filter section.

How it works:
  1. The “Hide Reversed Events” filter was added to the medication logs filter section
  2. The filter has the options “--” (default value showing all events) and “Yes” (hiding reversed events)
  3. By selecting "Yes", the reverted events are hidden from view.

2. Add Patient Name in the Medication Usage Event

Agencies operating without full ePCR integration often rely on manual logging of medication usage. Prior to this enhancement, usage events could include incident numbers but lacked a direct way to associate usage with a patient by name. This made it difficult to trace medication administration history for patients across events or filter usage by patient identity.
By including a Patient Name field, agencies can now log and retrieve medication usage records more effectively, especially for audits, QA reviews, and inventory reconciliation.

How it works:
1. Add Patient Name During Usage Event
  1. Navigate to the Medications module
  2. Select a kit and initiate a Usage event
  3. In the Usage Event form, you'll now see a new field labeled “Patient”
    • Enter the patient's name (up to 50 characters)
    • This field is optional but highly recommended for agencies without ePCR integration

2. Review Patient Name in Logs
  • The entered Patient Name will appear in the Medication Logs list view under the Usage event description
  • You can filter logs using the Patient Name field to find relevant entries

3. View in Reports
  • The Detailed Log Report now includes the Patient Name in the medication usage event section

3. Update Remove Event Drop-Down – Add "Missing" Option

Previously, when a medication could not be located during reconciliation or inspection, users lacked an appropriate way to document the issue. The absence of a "Missing" option made it difficult to distinguish between standard removals and true inventory discrepancies. By adding “Missing” as a drop-down value, agencies can now clearly identify medications that are unaccounted for—a critical need for QA and compliance tracking.

How it works:
 1. Log a Remove Event
  1. Navigate to the Medications module.
  2. Open a Med Kit or Supply Location.
  3. Click + Event and select Remove as the event type.
  4. Complete the event details as usual.
2. Select the "Missing" Option
  1. In the Validation Reason drop-down, select Missing.
    • Other options (e.g., Expired, Damaged, Used) are still available.
  2. Finalize and save the event.

3. View in Logs
  • The event is recorded in the Medication Logs list.
  • The word “Missing” is clearly shown in:
    • The event description
    • The event details view

4. New Medications and Forms Added to Med List

To ensure alignment with modern EMS protocols and evolving treatment standards, the First Due platform regularly updates its medication catalog. This release introduces commonly used medications—such as Sodium Bicarbonate and Magnesium Sulfate—in multiple concentrations, as well as the addition of "Patch" and "Nebule" as new form options to support more flexible documentation.

New Medications Added:

Medication NameNotes
Prochlorperazine (Compazine)Antiemetic / antipsychotic
Enoxaparin (Lovenox)Anticoagulant
Sodium Bicarbonate 4.2%Buffer, pediatric-friendly dose
Sodium Bicarbonate 8.4%Common for adult cardiac use
Magnesium Sulfate 20%Electrolyte / antiarrhythmic
Magnesium Sulfate 50%Alternate concentration
Calcium Chloride 10%Electrolyte / calcium replacement

New Medication Forms Added:

Form NameUse Case Example
PatchFentanyl Patch, Nitroglycerin Patch
NebuleUnit-dose respiratory medications (e.g., Albuterol Nebules)

Fixes

1. Individual Medication Selection Count Event

Fixed the medication selection behavior to allow individual selection in the count event of medications received together (i.e. same lot).

How it works:
  1. During the medication count process, the system allows users to apply Pass or Fail actions individually on each unit of medication, even if they were received in the same lot.
