Purpose Statement
As part of First Due’s Training Module enhancement, we are updating the terminology associated with the module to better align with how training in agencies is being performed on a day-to-day basis. The terminology update will happen on an ongoing basis so there may be times you will still see the original description and term usage.
Updated Terminology and Functionality (Coming Soon!)
Course (formerly Objectives) – This describes the training that is actually completed. The “Thing” you do. For example, an objective may have been called “Ladder Raises.” With this terminology update the objective of “Ladder Raises” becomes the name of the course you use to record a training event.
Template (formerly Course) - Courses that have been created in Set-up will be called Templates. This is to better align with the actions performed during Template creation, which is to provide the overall structure of a training activity.
Scheduled Training (formerly Class) – This will create a formal, scheduled training event. The workflow will be like what users are experiencing now when creating a Training Class; Adding Categories, Topics, Attendee Management, Payroll, etc.
Log Training – A new workflow to quickly log a training activity without the formal process of creating a Scheduled Training. This workflow is useful for company level drills, multi-company trainings and provides an efficient workflow for recording.
Training Plans - Provides a structured and proactive approach to managing a set of training requirements. Training plans can be utilized to manage pre-requisites for certifications, licenses and internal department requirements along with customizing requirements based on rank, qualifier or stations. Training Plans will provide Admins with tracking information and allows for customization utilizing both Bucket Based (Categories, Topics and Standards) and Course (Objective) level inclusion in a single plan.
Credentials (formerly Certifications) – Credentials provides a more generic and better aligned terminology as certifications are a type of a credential. Credentials will now cover Licensing, Certifications, Qualifications and External or Internal Credentials. Credentials can also be linked to a Training Plan for capturing a member’s progress.
Participation Tracking (new area in Set-up) – This is an new area within General Settings in Module Setup. When an agency uses the Log Training workflow, training creators can determine the Attendee’s level of participation. These are agency created fields and could include statuses of Assessed, Practiced, etc.
Log Training Quick Links (new area in Set-up) – This allows training creators to quickly access up to 3 course options when using the Log Training workflow. These are intended to be courses (Objectives) used on a regular basis and some fields will be pre-filled in Log Training when one is selected.
Default Duration (new field in Objective Management) – Placing a default duration in minutes in this field provides a default value when using this course (objective) during a Log Training event.
