Best Practices
- Clone Training Plans before making significant changes to requirement areas, especially when working from an enabled Global Training Plan.
- Clone annual Training Plans instead of editing a prior year’s plan.
- Use clear naming conventions, such as including the training year in the plan name.
- Archive plans instead of attempting to remove historical training information.
- Use saved views and filters to quickly locate specific Training Plans.
- Review assigned members before editing a Training Plan, as some edit options may be limited once members are assigned.
- Use the View option when only reviewing plan information or Member Progress.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
Why can’t I edit all areas of a Training Plan?
Some edit options may be limited when members have already been assigned to the Training Plan. Review the plan status and assigned members before attempting to make changes.
When should I clone a Training Plan?
Clone a Training Plan when you need to create a new version, modify requirement areas from an enabled Global Training Plan, or renew a plan for a new year.
Why should I clone a Global Training Plan instead of editing it?
Cloning is a best practice because it allows the agency to make changes without affecting the requirement areas of a previously enabled Global Training Plan.
What happens when I select the trash icon?
For active Training Plans, the trash icon archives the plan. This removes it from the active list while preserving historical data.
Can I permanently delete a Training Plan?
Only Training Plans in Draft status display the delete option. Active plans should be archived to preserve historical data.
How do I search for a Training Plan?
Select the magnifying glass icon and enter search criteria to locate a Training Plan in the list.
How do I control which columns appear in the list?
Use the column selection option at the top of the list to select or deselect the columns displayed on the page.
