Purpose Statement
This article explains how to delete (archive) a pre-plan within the Pre-Plan module. Deleting a pre-plan removes all pre-plan data for an occupancy while keeping the occupancy record and map location intact for future use.
Background Information
Pre-plans may need to be removed when a building is remodeled, repurposed, or has undergone significant changes that make the existing pre-plan inaccurate. In these cases, deleting the pre-plan allows departments to clear outdated information without removing the occupancy itself.
When a pre-plan is deleted:
The pre-plan is archived
All pre-plan-specific data is removed
The occupancy record and map location remain active
A new pre-plan can be created for the same occupancy
This approach preserves address continuity and routing accuracy while ensuring outdated information is not used operationally.
Common use cases include:
Major renovations or remodels
Significant occupancy use changes
Resetting inaccurate or outdated pre-plan data
Prerequisites:
Access to the Pre-Plan module
Existing pre-plan records
Required Permissions
To access and use the Pre-Plan Organizer, users must have the following permissions:
- Pre-Plans - Delete All--Allows the User to delete any pre-plans
- Pre-Plans - Delete Saved--Allows the User to delete saved pre-plan drafts

Best Practices
Do’s
Delete pre-plans when major structural or operational changes occur
Confirm occupancy remains active after deletion
Create a new pre-plan once updated information is available
Don’ts
Do not delete a pre-plan if only minor updates are required
Do not assume deleting a pre-plan removes the occupancy
Tips & Recommendations
Archive outdated pre-plans instead of overwriting inaccurate data
Document why a pre-plan was deleted
Coordinate pre-plan deletions with training and operations staff

Q: Can an archived pre-plan be restored?
A: Archived pre-plans cannot be restored, but a new pre-plan can be created for the same occupancy.
Q: Why does the address still appear on the map after deletion?
A: The address remains because the occupancy record was not deleted.
