Purpose Statement
This article explains how to edit an occupancy’s map location within the Pre-Plan module. Adjusting the map location allows users to reposition the occupancy marker to better reflect the actual access point or response routing location while maintaining the correct address.
Background Information
Each occupancy in First Due has a mapped location represented by an icon on the Pre-Planned Map. This icon determines where responding units are routed during an incident. While the address associated with an occupancy may be correct, the map marker may need adjustment to reflect proper access points, driveways, or building placement.
Moving the occupancy marker updates the latitude and longitude of the location but does not change the address stored in the system.
Common use cases include:
Correcting misplaced occupancy markers
Adjusting routing to the correct entrance or access point
Improving navigation accuracy for responding units

Troubleshooting & FAQs
Q: Does moving the marker change the address?
A: No. Moving the marker only updates the map location (latitude and longitude), not the address.
Q: Why are units being routed to the wrong place?
A: The occupancy marker may be placed incorrectly on the map.
Q: Can I move the occupancy marker back if needed?
A: Yes. The marker can be repositioned at any time if you have the appropriate permissions.
