Purpose Statement
To explain how to set up and utilize Firefighter and Unit Statusing through the First Due Mobile App and Web Responder.
Statusing allows departments to track who is responding, who is available, responder locations, and capture incident times for First Due NEIRS reporting when CAD integration is unavailable.
Important Note:
Important: Status changes performed in First Due do not populate to your agency’s CAD system.
Background Information
First Due Statusing supports multiple operational needs, including:
Tracking responder availability
Monitoring who is responding to incidents
Viewing responder location (when enabled)
Capturing unit response times for NEIRS reports
Supporting incident documentation when CAD data is unavailable
There are two statusing configurations:
Unit Response Mapping
Used for Unit-type user profiles only
Captures status changes specific to apparatus/units
Can populate times into First Due NEIRS reports
User Response Mapping
Used for individual firefighters or personnel
Tracks responder movements (e.g., To Station, To Scene, On Scene)
Can track responder location for a predetermined time when enabled
Important Note:
Note: Functionality for populating status times into First Due ePCR is currently under development.
Required Permissions
Users must have:
Response Module – Access
Responder Setup – Access
Allow to Respond to Incidents (located in the Others permission bucket)
Permissions are managed under Admin > User Roles.
Important Note:
Important: Administrators can remove statusing access for specific Roles (e.g., non-riding members) by deselecting Allow to Respond to Incidents.

To Scene
When location sharing is enabled, the responder’s location will display on both the Mobile and Web Responder maps.
How Statusing Appears on Incidents
Within the incident:
A Status Log appears at the bottom of the dispatch.
Displays responders who have statused.
Shows each responder’s current status.
Maps can display responder locations (if enabled).
This visibility supports tactical decision-making such as:
Apparatus staffing verification
Identifying closest responders
Planning fire attack and ventilation priorities
Tracking personnel accountability
Best Practices
Limit statusing permissions to riding members only.
Standardize terminology across unit and user status buttons.
Map status buttons to NEIRS fields for accurate reporting.
Encourage responders to enable location sharing during active responses.
Regularly review status configurations for alignment with SOPs.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
