NERIS Documentation - Firefighter Casualty

Purpose

  1. The purpose of this article is to assist with documenting a Firefighter Casualty within a fire incident report.

Directions


1. You can document Firefighter Injuries or Casualties by navigating to the People Involved section.

2. Select the +Add to begin the documentation.





3. When selecting the Injured Firefighter button notice the Search Personnel button appears.

4. When selecting the Search Personnel will populate a list of all Personnel within your agency.
  1. Using the check box to select the person then select Save.

5. This icon can unlink personnel information.

6. Select on the Casualty tab to begin the report.

7. Enter all pertinent information using the dropdown or list view.

8. Any toggles enabled indicate True/False, Yes/No answers.





9. When using the dropdown for multiselect fields select all that apply then click outside the area to apply items.

10. When using the list view select all items needed then select Apply.

11. For any Date/Time fields, to enter information select in the field.



12. Now enter Date, Time or select Today to apply current date then select Apply.

Note when selecting any fields type or use the numeric pad that populates.
  1. MM - Month will populate to choose from, DD - will populate Day, YYYY - populates Year.
  2. This is the same for Time but Hours, Minutes and seconds can be entered.

13. Continue documenting pertinent fields by scrolling down the page.

14. There are fields that are free text along with integer fields.

15. Free text and Integer fields are:
  1. Integer fields:
    1. Number of Responses during the past 24 hours
    2. Story where injury occurred
    3. Years of Service
  2. Free text field:
    1. Firefighter Rank





16. Utilizing the toggles to answer True/False, Yes/No.





17. Did Protective Equipment fail and/or contribute to injury is enabled you are able to enter PPE information by selecting the +Add.





18. From the Equipment modal you are able to enter all information regarding that piece of equipment and select Save.
  1. To add additional PPE select the +Add button from step 17.

19. Once Casualty report has been completed select Save.
