Purpose Statement
Charge by Work Type controls whether accepted call shifts apply a ranking adjustment or charged hours to personnel. When enabled, the adjustment is applied only when the call shift’s selected work type and subtype are included in a call shift ranking list.
Background Information
Charge by Work Type connects Call Shift Rules, Work Types, and Call Shifts. Administrators enable the setting and then determine which work types and subtypes count toward call shift rankings.
If the selected work type or subtype is not configured to count toward a ranking list, personnel who accept the call shift will not receive charged hours or a ranking adjustment.

Troubleshooting & FAQs
Q: Why did an accepted call shift not apply charged hours or a ranking adjustment?
A: Confirm that Charge by Work Type is enabled and that the selected work type and subtype count toward the applicable ranking list.
Q: Does enabling Charge by Work Type automatically include every work type?
A: No. Each applicable work type must be configured to count toward call shift rankings. Subtypes may also be individually included or excluded.
Q: What happens if the selected work type does not feed into a ranking list?
A: Personnel who accept the call shift will not receive charged hours or a ranking adjustment for that call shift.
Q: Where is the work type selected when creating a call shift?
A: The Project Code, Work Type, and Work Subtype fields appear in the Positions area.
Q: Can a subtype be excluded when its parent work type counts toward rankings?
A: Yes. Administrators can include or exclude specific subtypes when configuring the work type.
