Purpose Statement
Renewing a credential allows Training Administrators to manually extend credentials that were created without automatic renewal or when agencies use the Training Module strictly for credential logging rather than progress tracking. This process ensures credentials remain current and compliant.
Background Information
Manual credential renewal is commonly used by agencies that:
Do not track certification progress toward completion
Manage certifications externally and log them in First Due
Created credentials in First Due without enabling auto-renewal
Only credentials that do not automatically renew are available through the Renew credential workflow.
Required Permissions
To renew certifications, users must have:
Training Module access
Permissions to manage credentials
Administrative permissions to update issue and expiration dates
Important Note:
Permission availability may vary based on agency configuration.

Best Practices
Use manual renewal only for credentials without auto-renew enabled
Use bulk updates when renewing credentials for large groups
Verify expiration dates to prevent compliance gaps
Upload documentation whenever possible for audit readiness
Troubleshooting & FAQs

Why didn’t my credential move to Active status?
Issue and expiration dates must be entered before a credential becomes Active.
Can I renew certifications individually instead of in bulk?
Yes. Use the checkbox icon in the Actions column to update individual credentials.
