Purpose Statement
This article explains how to view and interact with Incidents within the Web Responder module. The Incidents view provides access to dispatch details, mapping, navigation, unit status, hydrant data, and pre-plan information to support situational awareness and response coordination.
Background Information
The Incidents feature in Web Responder displays active dispatches received through CAD integration. Depending on permissions and department configuration, users may be able to view detailed incident information, perform unit statusing, navigate to incidents, and access pre-plan and occupancy data.
Common use cases include:
Monitoring active incidents
Reviewing dispatch and unit details
Navigating to incident locations
Accessing pre-plan and hydrant information
Prerequisites:
Access to the Web Responder module
User logged into the First Due web platform
Required Permissions
- Response>Allow to Respond to Incidents: Allow user to Utilize response buttons
- Response>Dispatch Incident List: User can read dispatch call notes. Grants user access to the dispatch incident list Menu. Grants User Read Update Create, delete functions to each dispatch within the dispatch incident list
- Response>Edit Occupancy Address: Allow user to edit the occupancy address
- Response>Occupancy Record: User can access the occupancy record
- Response>Read Dispatch Call Notes: User can read the dispatch call notes
- Response>Show Weather Info on Size-Up page: User can see weather alerts
- Pre-Planning> Admin> Show Pre-Plan link on Size-Up page : User can see the access Pre-Plan icon next to the occupancy address in the dashboard view.

Step-by-Step Guide
1. Access Web Responder Incidents
Select the Main Menu
Select Response
Select Responder View
2. View and Filter the Incident List
Select the Incidents tab
Enable the All Calls toggle to display all incidents or disable the toggle to display only incidents the user is alerted to
Important Note:
This toggle affects incident visibility only and does not change alerting behavior.
Each incident displays:
Dispatch incident type
Incident address
Dispatched units
Dispatch date and time
3. Receive Dispatch Notifications
- Ensure dispatch turnout settings are configured within user notification settings.
- When a qualifying dispatch is received:
- A notification modal appears.
- The user must choose one of the following:
- Close — Remains on the current page.
- View Dispatch — Opens the incident details screen in Web Responder.
Important Note:
These notifications are only displayed within the Web Platform of First Due. The Mobile Platform functions differently by utilizing banner notifications.
4. Open Incident Details
In the Incident List Sidebar is:
A - Collapse and Close the Incident List Sidebar
B - Toggle for displaying All Calls or Only Set Alert Calls
C - Refresh the Latest Incident List (With last updated time stamp)
D- Incident List
Select an incident from the list
Zoom in, zoom out, or pan around the map as needed
If available and permitted:
Select More to open the Dispatch Incident List
5. Review Dispatch Information
On the right side of the screen, dispatch details may include:
Incident type
Incident address
Dispatch number
Dispatch date and time
Radio channel (if applicable)
6. Use Statusing Buttons
(Available if configured by an administrator)
Important considerations:
Status buttons do not communicate directly with CAD
Status times may populate the nearest incident documentation report
Statusing can be used for responder tracking and situational awareness
Available actions may include:
To Station
To Scene
Clear Status
Routing Behavior
If a default station is configured in mobile app settings:
Selecting To Station routes the user to that station
If no default station is set:
A station selection list appears
Selecting To Scene updates the status log
Location Sharing
When statused To Station or To Scene, the user’s location may appear on the map
Duration is controlled by User Settings
7. Incident Details
Displays the Incident details received from CAD. Select the Expand icon on any section to view information in a larger, centered window

Dispatch information
Units
Status log
Dashboard panels
8. View Building Story & Hydrants
Building Story
Displays structural information imported from the Occupancy module
Hydrants
Displays the five closest hydrants to the incident address
Selecting a hydrant:
Highlights its location on the map
Displays main size, flow, and GPM (if available)
9. View Assigned Units & Status Log
Assigned units display with color-coded status indicators
A blue number badge shows the number of units assigned
Expand the unit list for better visibility
Status Log
Groups units by current status
Updates automatically when status changes
Status Color Coding
Blue: On station, in service, transport
Green: On scene, arrived, EMS at drop
Yellow: Responding, to station, traffic, to scene
Red: Not available
Gray/No Color: Available or not statused
10. Navigate to the Incident
Select Calculate Route
A static route snapshot from Google Maps displays on the map along with distance, estimated drive time, and turn-by-turn text directions
Important Note:
Routes do not automatically recalculate if use deviates from the route
To update the route:
Return to Incident Details & select Calculate Route again
11. View Call History & Street View
Call History
Displays prior incidents at the address
Includes responding units and CAD narrative
Google Street View
Displays Street View imagery if available
Select the Back arrow to return to Incident Details
12. Use the Incident Dashboard
Select Dashboard
View pre-plan information associated with the occupancy
Expand the dashboard for a larger view
Dashboard elements include:
Occupancy type (primary or secondary)
Building name and address
Address selector for related occupancies
List view for additional occupancies
Edit Pre-Plan (pencil icon)
View Occupancy Record (book icon)
Pre-Plan Alert Tiles
Select a tile to view detailed information
Scroll left or right to view additional tiles
Attachments
Select attachments to view in a separate window
13. Access Occupancy Details
Select Occupancy Details
View extended occupancy information including:
Inspections
Assessor data
Full occupancy record
Use the Back arrow to return to the incident
14. Additional Incident Actions
Edit Pre-Plan
Opens the pre-plan editing screen (if permitted)
Take Command
Initiates or joins an incident command board
Available only if the Command module is enabled
