Purpose Statement
The Clear Overdue Events feature automatically removes overdue status indicators for Medication Counts and Custody Exchanges after a configurable number of days.
This feature helps agencies:
Reduce dashboard clutter from historical overdue events
Maintain a clean and actionable medication management interface
Align overdue notifications with agency compliance policies
Automatically cancel outdated overdue alerts and banners
Background Information
Within the Medications module, overdue events are generated when medication counts or custody exchanges are not completed on time. Over time, these alerts can accumulate and create unnecessary visual noise—especially for agencies managing multiple kits, stations, or shifts.
The Clear Overdue Events feature allows administrators to define how long overdue events remain visible before they are automatically cleared.
Key considerations:
Applies to both Medication Counts and Custody Exchanges
Configurable from 0–31 days
Performs a one-time retroactive cleanup when first enabled
Cancels associated overdue notifications
This feature is particularly useful for agencies balancing operational efficiency with DEA and internal compliance requirements.
Required Permissions
To configure this feature, users must have:

Best Practices
Align day values with department SOPs and compliance requirements.
Avoid setting values too low if supervisory review of overdue events is required.
Coordinate with compliance officers before adjusting custody exchange settings.
Communicate configuration changes to shift supervisors and medication managers.
Periodically audit medication reporting to ensure clearing rules support policy.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
Why did historical overdue events disappear immediately after enabling?
The system performs a one-time retroactive cleanup when the feature is first activated.
Does clearing an overdue event delete the record?
No. The event record remains in the system. Only the overdue status and associated notifications are removed.
What happens if I set the value to 0?
Overdue banners are cleared at midnight in your agency’s local time zone.
Can I configure counts and custody exchanges differently?
Yes. Each field allows independent configuration (0–31 days).
What happens if the feature is turned off?
Previously cleared overdue events will revert to their overdue status.
