Purpose Statement
The Med Kit Groups feature allows agencies to organize medication kits into logical groupings for easier management, reporting, and operational oversight.
Grouping med kits improves visibility, simplifies filtering, and supports structured medication workflows across stations, apparatus, or divisions.
Background Information
Med Kit Groups are configured within the Medications Setup area and allow administrators to:
Associate multiple medication kits under a single group
Organize kits by station, apparatus, battalion, shift, or specialty unit
Control display order for easier navigation
Filter and manage kits more efficiently
This feature is particularly helpful for larger agencies managing multiple kits across different locations or operational units.
Required Permissions
To manage Med Kit Groups, users must have:
Medications Module – Admin or Configuration access
Permission to access Medications Setup
Permission to Create, Edit, and Delete Med Kit Groups

Step-by-Step Guide
1. Navigate to Medications Setup
Go to Medications.
Select Setup.

2. Access Med Kit Groups
From the Medications Setup menu, select Med Kit Groups.

3. Search for Existing Med Kit Groups
Enter a Name and/or Description in the search fields.
Select Apply to filter results.
Select Reset to clear filters and display all groups.

4. Sort Med Kit Groups
Select any column header to sort results in ascending or descending order.
Your selected sort preference saves automatically.
Important Note:
When columns are actively sorted, manual repositioning is disabled.

5. Reposition Med Kit Groups
Med Kit Groups can be manually reordered when not sorted by a column.
Select the Position column.
Rearrange groups into the desired order.
Warning:
If a column sort is applied, the Position order cannot be adjusted until sorting is cleared.


6. Edit or Delete a Med Kit Group
From the Actions column:
Select the Pencil icon to edit a Med Kit Group.
Select the Trash Can icon to delete a Med Kit Group.
Warning:
Use caution when deleting groups, especially if kits are actively assigned.

7. Create a New Med Kit Group
Select the New Med Kit Group button.

8. Enter Med Kit Group Details
In the modal window, complete the required fields:
Name (Required) – Enter the group name.
Description – Provide details about the group’s purpose.
Medication Kit – Use the dropdown to select one or more med kits to associate with the group.

9. Save the New Group
Select Save once all required information is entered.
A confirmation message will display indicating the Med Kit Group was successfully created.


Best Practices
Use consistent naming conventions (e.g., Station 1 Kits, Engine Company Kits, EMS Supervisor Kits).
Avoid overly broad group names that reduce filtering usefulness.
Review group assignments regularly to ensure kits are correctly associated.
Establish internal guidelines for who can create or modify groups.
Use Position ordering to align with operational structure (e.g., alphabetical by station, battalion order).
Troubleshooting & FAQs
Why can’t I rearrange the Position order?
Manual repositioning is disabled when a column sort is applied. Clear sorting to enable reordering.
Can a med kit belong to more than one group?
No, Med Kits can not be assigned to more than one group.
What happens if I delete a Med Kit Group?
The group is removed, but medication kits remain in the system. You may need to reassign them to another group.
Why don’t I see the New Med Kit Group button?
You may not have sufficient permissions. Contact your system administrator.
