Purpose Statement
To explain how to create a Hydrant Service Checklist within the First Due Hydrants module. Service checklists allow departments to standardize hydrant inspections and servicing by ensuring technicians complete consistent inspection steps during hydrant maintenance or service events.
Background Information
Hydrant Service Checklists help fire departments maintain hydrants by defining the inspection steps, questions, and response types required during hydrant servicing.
Departments can create multiple checklists for different hydrant types or service procedures. For example, agencies may maintain separate checklists for:
Dry barrel hydrants
Wet barrel hydrants
Annual inspections
Post-repair servicing
Each checklist can include categories and individual checklist items, along with configurable response types such as pass/fail, numeric input, or other responses. These responses can also be included automatically in hydrant work order summaries when desired.
Required Permissions
Users must have permissions that allow them to manage hydrant configurations. Typical permissions include:
Hydrants – View
Hydrants – Edit
Hydrant Service Checklist – Create/Edit
Hydrant Module Access
Permissions may vary depending on your agency’s configuration.
