The Tag Block feature in Form Builder allows administrators to display relevant data fields from your Fire/EMS modules directly on printed forms and reports. This functionality enables dynamic content inclusion, ensuring that important contextual information automatically appears on documents without manual entry, improving accuracy and efficiency in documentation processes.

The Tag Block is available across multiple modules including Inspections, Permits, Invoicing and Fire Investigation, making it a universal tool for enhancing report completeness and reducing manual data entry errors.

Required Permissions

To use the Tag Block feature in Form Builder, users must have the following permissions:

  • Form Builder: Create/Edit Forms
  • Module-specific permissions for the target module (Inspections, Permits, Invoicing or Fire Investigation)
  • Report Generation permissions for the relevant module
  • Administrative access may be required depending on your organization's permission structure

Step-by-Step Guide




1.  Create a new form or select edit to edit an existing form.






2. Mouse over in the left margin at the current block and select the + sign to add a Tag under the current Block.





3.  Select Tag from the dropdown menu.






4. Select Tune.





5. Add data field(s) by clicking on "+."






6. Select the data field(s) to display in the printed report:
  1. Note: The data fields available will be for the Module you are creating the report in.








7. Tune Options:
  1. Border
  2. Include Title
  3. Justification for fields added - Center (default), left and right.
  4. Move up and down
  5. Delete (select the X 2 times).

  • Choose only relevant data fields that add value to the printed report
  • Avoid overwhelming reports with excessive information
  • Consider the report's intended audience when selecting fields

Formatting Recommendations

  • Use consistent justification across similar Tag Blocks within the same form
  • Enable borders for better visual separation when multiple Tag Blocks are used
  • Include titles for Tag Blocks when clarity is important for report readers

  • For Inspections: Include property details, inspection dates, and relevant codes
  • For Permits: Display permit numbers, application dates, and approval status

Q: Why don't I see certain data fields in the Tag Block options? A: Data fields are module-specific. Ensure you're working in the correct module (Inspections, Permits, or Fire Investigation) and that the desired fields exist in that module's configuration.

Q: My Tag Block isn't displaying data on the printed report. A: Verify that the selected data fields contain information in the specific record you're printing. Empty fields won't display content.

Q: How do I remove a Tag Block I no longer need? A: Select the Tag Block, click "Tune," then click the "X" button twice to delete it permanently.

Q: Can I use multiple Tag Blocks on the same form? A: Yes, you can add multiple Tag Blocks to a single form. Use the positioning tools to arrange them logically.

Q: The Tag Block formatting doesn't look correct on my printed report. A: Check your justification settings and border options. Preview the report before finalizing to ensure proper formatting.
