NERIS Documentation - Narratives

Purpose

  1. The purpose of this article is to help navigate the Narratives tab when documenting a fire report.

Directions


1. Navigate to the Wrap Up section and select on Narratives tab.

2. From the Narratives tab you are able to document the overall Department narrative along with any Incident Impediments.
  1. Department Narrative - is a factual account of an incident, focusing on the who, what, when, where, why, and how. It describes the incident conditions, response actions, and results, including any unusual conditions or damage to neighboring properties.
  2. Incident Impediment - refers to factors that hinder or obstruct the effective investigation, reporting, or response to incidents.


From the Narratives tab you are able to document the overall Department narrative along with any Incident Impediments.



3. From the Department Narrative began documentation by typing in the Narrative field.

4. If your agency has Templates created select on Use Template.

5. From the modal you are now able to view or search for any templates.

6. To view a template select on the expand arrow.

7. To use a template within your narrative select the checkbox then select Apply.

8. If you wish to delete your narrative you can do so by selecting the Trash can icon.

9. You can document any Incident Impediments utilizing the same features as the Department narrative.
