Managing and Editing Existing Workflows within NERIS
Managing and Editing Existing Workflows within NERIS
Purpose
The purpose of this article is to guide users through locating, editing, or deleting existing workflows within the Fire Incident Setup area of the First Due platform. This ensures agencies can efficiently maintain and update documentation workflows for fire reporting.
Background
Workflow configurations—including Hide, Default Value, and Error Validation types—help streamline and validate report entry. Over time, agencies may need to update these workflows to reflect new policies or reporting requirements. First Due provides a centralized interface to manage existing workflows efficiently.

10. Available Workflow Types for Editing
If workflows already exist for the selected field, you may see one or more of the following:
Hide
Default Value
Error Validation
Note: Always click Save after making any changes to ensure updates are applied.
11. Hide Workflow
Allows editing of the description, groups, and conditions.
Before clicking + Add New, search to verify whether a workflow already exists for your target field.
15. Field Not Selectable When Adding New
If a field is unavailable when using + Add New, it already has a workflow assigned.
Use the search tools in the workflow grid to locate and edit it instead.
Best Practices
Do: Regularly review workflows to ensure they align with current policies.
Don’t: Create multiple workflow types with the same rules in a selected field - this could cause a hidden error that can't be seen during documentation.
Tip: Use descriptive names and messages to help staff understand each workflow’s purpose
