How to Navigate First Due's NEW Release Notes Format
Background
As the First Due Platform evolves and expands to meet customer's needs by providing the most up to date functionality and features, the frequency of product releases increases. In the past we conducted a monthly Release Notes Academy Session. With the amount of Product Releases, it became difficult to review each release in the allotted 1 hour time frame. We were able show the releases briefly without being able to give background content and use case examples.
Upcoming Changes
- We have revamped the Release Notes section of the Knowledge Base Forum.
- We have separated each module into it's own section for clarity and ease of navigation.
- We have broken each article into 4 distinct sections:
- Video
- At the conclusion of each month the Trainers will publish a shorter video that is specific to that module only.
- New Features
- These are new features within the product that did not exist prior to it's release.
- Feature Enhancements
- These are improvements that have been added to currently existing features.
- Fixes
- These are things that have been done to either improve functionality or correct any issues that have developed.
Navigation
- Navigate to the First Due Knowledge Base main page.
- Select the Release Notes section
- Select the Month you wish to view.
Select the Module you want to view.
Modules will only be visible when there are New Features, Enhancements, or Fixes for that module.
Video
- The Video will be published on the first business day of the following month. (Ex: On October 1st September's video will be added)
- The video will be shorter than the hour-long Academy session was and will be specific to that module only.
- The video will be in a YouTube format.
New Features
- Each New Feature that has been released will contain the following information:
- A Description of what the new Feature is/does.
- The background on why we released this new feature.
- What steps need to be taken to set up (if any) to use the new feature.
- A use case scenario on when you would use the new feature.
A link to a full length KBA (when applicable).
When there is more than one New Feature released during the month this process will be repeated for each New Feature.
Feature Enhancements
- Each Feature Enhancement that has been released will contain the following information:
- What feature or functionality was enhanced and how it was enhanced.
- What is the background on enhancing the feature or functionality.
- What steps need to be taken to set up (if any) to use the new feature.
- A use case scenario on when you would use the new feature.
A link to a full length KBA (when applicable).
When there is more than one Feature Enhancement released during the month this process will be repeated for each Feature Enhancement.
Fixes
- What was not working properly or causing issues and how has it changed.
- What steps need to be taken to set up (if any) to apply the new fix.
- A use case scenario on why the fix was needed.
A link to a full length KBA (when applicable).
When there is more than one Fix released during the month this process will be repeated for each Fix.
Conclusion
We hope you enjoy the new format we are using. We have no doubt that it will provide a more in-depth educational experience for each of our users. We value you as a customer and we Thank You for choosing First Due as your RMS solution.
