Form Builder - Quote Block

Form Builder - Quote Block

Purpose Statement

The Quote Block feature in Form Builder enables users to add formatted quotations with captions to forms across multiple modules. This enhances form design by allowing the inclusion of relevant quotes, policies, or important statements that provide context or emphasis within inspection forms, permits, invoicing and fire investigation documentation.

Background Information

The Quote Block is a versatile formatting element within the Form Builder that allows departments to incorporate meaningful quotes, regulatory citations, departmental policies, or motivational statements directly into their forms. This feature is commonly used for adding legal disclaimers, safety reminders, departmental mottos, or relevant code citations that provide context to the form content. The Quote Block maintains consistent formatting and professional appearance across all generated forms.

Required Permissions

To add and configure Quote Blocks in Form Builder, users must have:

  • Form Builder access permissions
  • Edit permissions for the specific module (Inspections, Permits, Invoicing or Fire Investigation)
  • Form creation or modification permissions within the designated module

Best Practices

  • Use quotes strategically - Include relevant policy statements, safety reminders, or regulatory citations that enhance the form's purpose
  • Keep quotes concise - Lengthy quotes can overwhelm the form and reduce readability
  • Provide proper attribution - Always include source information in the caption field for credibility
  • Consider placement - Position quotes where they provide the most context or emphasis
  • Test formatting - Preview the printed form to ensure proper spacing and appearance
  • Use consistent styling - Maintain uniform justification and formatting across similar forms

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Q: The Quote Block isn't appearing in my dropdown menu A: Verify you have the necessary Form Builder permissions and are working within a supported module (Inspections, Permits, or Fire Investigation).

Q: My quote text is getting cut off on printed forms A: Check the quote length and consider breaking longer statements into shorter, more impactful quotes.

Q: Can I include dynamic data in quote blocks? A: Yes, use the data field option in the Tune settings to incorporate dynamic information into your quotes.

Q: The delete function isn't working A: The delete feature requires selecting the X button twice as a safety measure to prevent accidental deletion.
