Purpose Statement
The Med Kit Groups feature allows agencies to organize medication kits into logical groups that display on the Med Kits Overview.
Med Kit Groups help agencies organize and manage their Med Kits based on operational needs, such as controlled medication status, use case, or bag type. This improves navigation and allows end users to quickly locate the appropriate Med Kit when documenting medication usage.
Background Information
Med Kit Groups are configured within Medications Setup and determine how Med Kits are organized in the navigation menu of the Med Kits Overview.
Administrators can use Med Kit Groups to:
- Organize Med Kits by controlled status, use case, bag type, or other agency-specific categories.
- Associate multiple Med Kits with a single group.
- Control the order in which groups appear on the Med Kits Overview.
- Search, filter, and sort existing Med Kit Groups.
- Edit, delete, or bulk delete existing Med Kit Groups.
- Reassign Med Kits between groups as operational needs change.
Each Med Kit can belong to only one Med Kit Group at a time. Assigning a Med Kit to a different group removes its association with the previous group.
The Med Kit Group Name is visible to end users on the Med Kits Overview. The optional Description is used for administrative reference within Medications Setup and is not displayed to end users.
Required Permissions
Users must have the appropriate permissions to access Medications Setup and manage Med Kit Groups.
The required access should allow users to:
- View Med Kit Groups.
- Create new Med Kit Groups.
- Edit existing Med Kit Groups.
- Delete Med Kit Groups.

- Locate the Position column on the far left of the Med Kit Groups list.
- Hover over the three-line drag handle for the group you want to move.
- Select and drag the group to the desired position.
- Release the group to place it in the new position.
- Repeat as needed to organize the groups according to your agency's operational preferences.
For example, an agency may choose to position its Narcotics Kits group at the top of the list so personnel can quickly locate controlled medication kits.

If your organization has multiple Med Kit Groups, use the pagination controls to navigate the list.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Med Kit Groups list.
- Use the pagination controls to navigate between available pages.

9. Bulk Delete Med Kit Groups
Bulk Delete allows administrators to remove multiple Med Kit Groups in a single action.
- From the Med Kit Groups list, select the checkboxes next to the groups you want to delete.
- Once multiple groups are selected, the Bulk Delete option becomes available.
- Select Bulk Delete.
- Review the selected groups and any confirmation prompt.

- From the Med Kit Groups page, select Add Med Kit Group.
- The Med Kit Group creation form opens.
- Enter a Name for the new Med Kit Group.
The Name is displayed to end users on the Med Kits Overview. Use terminology that is familiar to your agency and clearly identifies the purpose of the group.
Examples include:
- Narcotics Kits
- ALS Med Kits
- BLS Bags
- Airway Bags
- Engine Med Bags
- Controlled Medication Kits
11. Enter a Med Kit Group Description (Optional)
- Locate the Description field.
- Enter a description explaining the purpose of the Med Kit Group.
For example, an Engine Med Bags group could use the description: "Medication bags assigned to engine companies for emergency response."
The Description is optional and is intended for administrative reference. It helps other administrators understand the purpose of the group and how its Med Kits are organized.
Info:
The Description does not appear to end users on the Med Kits Overview.
12. Select Med Kits for the Group
- Locate the Med Kit selection area.
- Select + Add to open the available Med Kits list.
- Review the Med Kits configured for your organization.
- Use the Search field to locate specific Med Kits by keyword, if needed.
- Select the Med Kits you want to include in the group. Multiple Med Kits can be selected.
- Select Add to include the selected Med Kits in the new group.
Understanding Existing Group Assignments
When reviewing available Med Kits, some kits may display a group name following a dash.
This indicates that the Med Kit is already assigned to an existing Med Kit Group.
For example:
- ALS Bag 1 â No existing group association displayed.
- Narcotics Kit 1 â Narcotics Vaults â Already assigned to the Narcotics Vaults group.
A Med Kit can only belong to one Med Kit Group at a time.
If you select a Med Kit that is already assigned to another group, saving the new Med Kit Group will move that Med Kit from its existing group to the new group.
Important Note:
Review existing group assignments before saving to avoid unintentionally moving Med Kits between groups.
13. Review Selected Med Kits
Before saving the Med Kit Group, review the selected Med Kits to confirm that the correct kits have been included.
- Review the list of Med Kits added to the group.
- Verify that each selected Med Kit belongs in the new group.
- If a Med Kit was selected accidentally, use its Remove/Delete action to remove it from the selection.
- Confirm that the remaining Med Kits are appropriate for the group.
Important Note:
Removing a Med Kit from the selection before saving does not delete the Med Kit itself.
14. Save the New Med Kit Group
- After entering the Name, optional Description, and selecting the appropriate Med Kits, review the information.
- Select Save.
- The new Med Kit Group is created and appears in the Med Kit Groups list.
If any selected Med Kits were previously assigned to another group, their group associations are updated when the new group is saved.
15. Verify the Med Kit Group on the Med Kits Overview
After creating a Med Kit Group, verify that it appears correctly for end users.
- Navigate to the Med Kits Overview.
- Locate the new Med Kit Group in the left-side navigation menu.
- Select the group to review the associated Med Kits.
- Confirm that the correct Med Kits appear within the group.
- If changes are needed, return to Medications > Setup > Med Kit Groups and edit the group.
The Med Kits Overview displays the group name and an associated kit count, allowing users to identify available groups and their contents.
Best Practices
- Use clear naming conventions. Create group names that match your agency's operational terminology so end users can quickly identify the appropriate kits.
- Organize by operational purpose. Consider grouping Med Kits by controlled medication status, response type, apparatus assignment, or bag type.
- Prioritize frequently accessed groups. Use the drag-and-drop Position controls to place commonly used or higher-priority groups near the top of the Med Kits Overview.
- Include descriptions for administrative clarity. Although optional, descriptions help administrators understand the purpose of each group and maintain consistency as configurations change.
- Review existing group assignments. Before assigning Med Kits to a new group, verify whether they are already associated with another group to prevent unintended reassignment.
- Verify selections before saving. Review all selected Med Kits and remove any that were added accidentally.
- Use caution when deleting groups. Deleting a group does not delete its Med Kits, but it changes how those kits are organized for end users.
- Verify changes on the Med Kits Overview. After creating, editing, or reordering groups, confirm that the resulting organization supports your agency's workflow.
- Review groups periodically. As your agency adds new Med Kits or changes operational procedures, update group assignments and display order as needed.
